Restaurant Intensive Program Fund for Women

   The mission of my company is to mentor and guide women of color, immigrants, survivors of abuse, and the reentry population on how to build a Bar Restaurant Business from the ground up. I helped my mother build three restaurants (two in the Bronx and one in Inwood Manhattan) that are 7-figure businesses. After 8 years, almost a decade of working in the restaurant industry I want to honor the sacrifices I witness my mother make for twenty years to open her dream business. I want to give back by providing information, training and funding to women who aspire to own their own bar restaurants so that they can be in charge of their lives and leave an empire to their children and family. 

   In this industry the problem is that they are fewer women bar and restaurant owners. And even when women are interested in owning and opening this type of business: they lack funding, and information. I want to eliminate these obstacles and help women speed up the process because another obstacle is that it could take a woman up to twenty years of working a low wage job, and saving money to be able to then two decades later open their dream restaurant and so this is why  I want to provide a fund to help speed up the process 

  The market in this opportunity are  mothers, waitresses, bartenders and students who study business administration and or hospitality. There are thousands of people in NYC who could benefit from this program. In addition, my program would seek to be a national program since it will be online, and it can scale to be international with the partners I have in Haiti, South Africa, Honduras, Panama, & other countries I have done work in where I know sites there that will be interested in providing this training and 1:1 mentorship to women. 

    I am seeking funding because this is a business with a social impact that with funding can make a difference economically for hundreds if not thousands of women. I have a network of women who are ready to help me scale this endeavor.

Q. Who will benefit from this fund?

A. Women of Color, Immigrants, Asylum women, Latinas, Reentry population, Women in third world countries. 
 

Q. What is the 30k fund for?

The fund is to create a Restaurant Intensive Program; a 1:1 coaching program. The fund also will be used to fund equipment or Grant women with money grants to eliminate obstacles such as not having a down payment for the lease of a commercial space. This eliminates a obstacle and speeds up the process and the likelihood that the aspiring business owner will reach their goal.

Q. How much will this program cost trainees?

A. The program will be based on a rolling scale if the family or individual has limited resources. The funds raised will go towards providing them a scholarship, and awarding a partial fund to help them with capital. 

Q. Will there be scholarships for low income students?

A. Clients can be awarded aid, depending on grants available, however trainees will have monthly payment plan options.

Q. What certifications or completion documents will clients receive?

A. Clients by the end of the program will have received guidance on acquiring their food safety license, liquor license, & other licenses applicable to opening and operating a restaurant including sidewalk and roadway seating post Covid19. They will also have developed a Covid proof system to increase visibility, support and provide delivery and takeout. 

Q. How long will this program be for?

A. The program can be anywhere from 1-4 months of 1:1 coaching and 6months to 1 year of implementation. It varies depending on where in the timeline of opening a restaurant the client is  when we start working together. 

Phases:

Phase 1: We can prep them from one year in advance to coach them on saving money and preparing for the requirements of opening a bar/ restaurant. During this phase they will be learning theory, observing other restaurants, researching equipment, saving money / crowdfunding / fundraising / seeking silent partners and or angel investors, planning their restaurant concept and design,  and studying for any licenses exams. 

Phase 2: We then can work with them in the implementation phase: shopping for a commercial space to lease, renovation & restaurant design (kitchen, bar, bathrooms, silverware, tables, decor, patio), menu design, staff training, recruiting management, computer system, cocktails & liquor inventory, selection of chef, equipment for bar, kitchen,).

Q. Is this business registered yet?

A. Not yet this program will be registered under Jhoanny Perez LLC., for its a coaching program.  Please not though that Jhoanny and her mom have 8 years running three restaurants in NYC. This crowdfunding will help with startup cost & program set up.
