Project Description

Across the globe, approximately 1 billion children are multidimensionally poor; this means they lack basic human necessities such as food or clean water. Some 150 million additional children have been plunged into multidimensional poverty due to COVID-19. An estimated 356 million children live in extreme poverty. In the United States, children remain the poorest age group. This relates to the existence of many at-risk children and youth across the country who have been neglected due to family or environmental or economic factors. Children and youth are seen as at risk if they are disabled, have low self-esteem, or have been abused. This category of children and youth requires their needs to be met by the government, charity organization, or a group home. This shows an urgent need for an initiative like ours.

Just over 400,000 American children live in foster care, and some 55,000 reside in group homes, residential treatment facilities, psychiatric institutions, and emergency shelters. This type of placement—called “congregate care”—may be beneficial for children who require short-term supervision and structure because their behavior may be dangerous.

Simpley Princely, LLC is a group home that leads and empowers children through the facilitation of self-growth and worth, positive modeling, diverse teachings, and personal relationships. We believe that all children deserve to have humble beginnings. We understand that home is not a place but a feeling of belonging. Being Princely is not a person but rather a belief in one’s own right to be great. We believe and teach that circumstances do not determine individual worth. Here at Simpley Princely, we provide a home for the deserving. We are a requisite for rest and refuge. We are dedicated to at-risk children with a purpose to encourage and promote positive mental, physical and emotional health.

Simpley Princely, LLC is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of young people that are either falling through the cracks at school or are already entangled with the juvenile court system. The goal of the program is to identify youth who are going to have a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer a positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; empower young people to make positive changes in their lives.

Simpley Princely Children’s Home began as a small group home for youth by the present Director, Dr. Sonya Prince. Dr. Prince has no children of her own but spent well over 15 years in the field of education as a teacher and leader in diverse schools and cultural settings. Dr. Prince discovered a love for children, especially those who needed extra love, support, and guidance in her earlier years. She worked as a substitute for a few years and began to find a great love for children with special needs. She did some contractual work for schools and third-party organizations in which she met children from inter-cities, urban communities, and rural areas.

As a result of those experiences, Dr. Prince began to connect with the youth who experienced mild to severe trauma. It was at that time that Dr. Prince realized that there was a missing link. Students were not able to come to school to learn because of their home lives. Witnessing children’s lack of daily necessities and a consistent home, meal, or family, Dr. Prince made it her goal to expand her teaching and desire to shape the lives of children in difficult circumstances.

The group home designed for temporary residential housing for at-risk youth between the ages of 10-17 service are highlighted below;

  • Providing outsourced therapeutic and behavioral services to at-risk youth
  • Providing a “family” like living environment until /if children are reunited with biological family or placed in an adoption/foster home.
  • In-house academic, career, financial, and community services/activities.
  • Provide fundamental services that will help our children complete daily tasks which include ensuring basic tasks and responsibilities such as bathing, homework completion, and chores.
  • We provide transportation to and from school, transportation to and from after-school or extracurricular programs, scheduling and attending school meetings, doctors/health-specific appointments, and other personal needs.
  • We provide adequate healthy meals daily, administration of medications, educational and leisure outings, as well as engage in daily conversations with the youth.
  • Simply Princely provides a shelter (temporary placement), with basic amenities such as bedding, food, clothing, and other support individualized supports.

Apart from personal and ethical contributions to achieve strategic goals, the financial stability of the organization is most importantly, dependent on the donors and Government Agencies in terms of providing human needs for children. At the same time, sustainability depends on human resources, the management team, and the workforce. Other suppliers of capital goods and services related to establishing or improving the property, such as medicals and transportation, are quite important to the organization’s success. Therefore, the bargaining power of suppliers in the industry is considered high. Simpley Princely, LLC will rely heavily on the financial support of donors and grant funding.

Ultimately, Simpley Princely, LLC is marketed as a critical social support system for young people and the community in which they reside. Simpley Princely, LLC impacts how many other city services will be called in to respond to destructive behavior in the community. It is with your support, insight, and monetary contributions, that Simpley Princely, LLC. will take off and be a significant part of the community for young boys and that influence will transform into changing lives and communities.

Thank you,

Dr. S. Prince
