Project Description

Created out of a need for more diverse shades and less toxic ingredients in the cosmetics industry, Range Beauty was born. It is a brand that encourages you to express yourself, while still allowing your true skin to shine through. We aim to continuously support, uplift, include, and empower all globally to be confident in your skin no matter the shade or type. Range Beauty was formed for people ranging from all skin tones, types, and genders who have felt left out or underrepresented.

The Problem

Black women are exposed to twice the amount of toxic beauty products due to their high spending power coupled with a lack of clean alternatives for their skin tones. Clean beauty lines are often non-inclusive and expensive, creating a large gap in the industry for women of color. Aside from the severe lack of diverse shades, makeup is largely produced to cover imperfections, often worn for 8+ hours a day with ingredients that can damage the skin layer. For those with sensitve skin, eczema or acne, it's difficult to find brands that avoid ingredients which further inflame these skin issues.

Our Solution

Range Beauty is where makeup meets skincare. We utilize botanicals to help common skin issues including eczema and acne for different skin types. Unlike other brands, our makeup takes care of the skin with wear. Founded by a Black woman with people of color as the focus, our products are formulated with melanin in mind and are vegan, cruelty-free, and non-toxic. We created a line around the skin types, skin tones, and undertones that makeup brands see as an afterthought or not a thought at all.

Beyond Skin Deep

We make sure to encourage a clean lifestyle in the Black community that goes beyond our products through different partnerships. We're a proud sponsor of Painted Pink which is a local non-profit that brings awareness to breast cancer in Black millennials. We also sponsored therapy sessions through Therapy for Black Girls and Heal Haus which provides safe spaces for Black people to seek therapy and enable the discussion around mental health within the Black community.
