Putting ''A Stroke Of Whimsy'' on the map!
Raising money to get my art business off the ground and running. With hard work and a little help my dreams can come true!
Project Description
Hi! My name is Jennifer and I am the founder of A Stroke of Whimsy! I am so passionate about art, as well as the environment. My goal is to gain the funds needed so that I can become a legitimate business that donates to environmental causes while spreading the joy and beauty of art around our communities, lives, and the world!
My main goal for this funding would be to allow me to obtain a business license, and to pay for entrance fees to be in art fairs around the Atlanta metro area. Art fairs are critical showcasing opportunities that will allow my work to be seen and be more visible with the local community.
The funding would also extend to other services needed such as hiring professional help to build a website, or to pay a photographer to get high quality photos of my works. The last cost needed that is imperative in the success of my business is consistent purchasing of the supplies needed to to keep up a steady rate of actually creating the artwork.
Eventually the end goal is to open my own studio where I can host low cost and charity art lessons for children in the community, host workshop events, and to sell my art (as well as feature local artists work). I wish to see more children becoming exposed to and getting involved in art because it is so good for the soul! My hope is to inspire more people to be creative in their own ways, and my dream is to accomplish this while at the same time promoting awareness of the environment. I plan to make all of this possible by doing my part in not only raising awareness, but also donating portions of my sales to the Environmental Defense Fund. (https://edf.org) It is so important to me that we as a community contribute to the abundance and beauty that is all around us!
I am initially requesting a donation of $1,000. This amount would allow me to apply to all upcoming art fairs for this season, buy art materials needed to fulfill current projects, set up a website, and most importantly pay for my business license.
Starting a new business is an inherent risk, but I believe in this venture with my whole heart and know that I will succeed as fortune always favors the brave. With hard work and the monetary backing I am requesting here, this dream has a real chance at becoming a successful business! If you never ask then you never receive, and if you never chase after your dreams you will never get to live them!

- How much do entrance fees for vendors in art fairs cost?
- Good question! Most art fairs could cost anywhere from nothing to over a hundred dollars! I've been in three so far with the most recent costing me $100 to enter. The next one I am wanting to sign up for is $150!
- How much do art supplies usually cost you?
- The cost of art supplies varies from project to project. It all depends on the size of the canvas, and how much paint I end up going through and having to buy. Some of my paintings have extra bling and materials added which ups the cost of certain pieces. The price of canvas varies per size. For example, the smallest canvas I ever bought was $3 and the biggest one costing me $45. Most of them being pretty reasonable around $15-$30, and paints usually costing me between $1-$20 per tube. Those are the main things I use (paint and canvas) but as I mentioned I sometimes incorporate random things I find, and occasionally needing to replace paintbrushes, glue, markers, fabrics etc..
- How do you price your pieces?
- The way I charge for my art is simple. I only charge for the supplies it took to make the piece, then add on however much time it took to create it!
- Will we still get our reward for our donations if you have not met your goal?
- Yes! I will still honor the rewards system even if I have not met my goal.
