Project Description
At Presley's Playroom, LLC our mission is to enhance awareness, provide guidance and support, and boost confidence within the special needs community in order to promote a better quality of life.
In many cases, caretakers of special needs children have difficulty finding age-appropriate toys that will help their children learn and grow. Developmentally challenged children sometimes have a hard time playing with toys traditionally marketed to their age group because the toys are made for the average child and does not take the special needs into account.
Our model is based upon providing solutions to caretakers and special needs children according to their specific needs and the area they need to develop skills in. Presley’s Playroom offers toys that are intended to improve skills in a variety of areas including, gross motor, social skills, interpersonal skills, emotional skills, and cognitive skills. We also provide toys that are adaptable and engaging, which allows a child with disabilities to learn functional skills while having fun.
According to the HRSA, a study showed children with special needs are present in 20% of US households with children. Our ideal customer is two-fold, the caretaker who purchases the product and the handicapped child who uses the toy. The average caretaker is most likely to be female between the ages of 18-49.
Presley’s Playroom is marketing towards parents and caregivers who have children within the special needs community. Our products will include toys ranging from baby rattles to adult jumping towers to provide strength in areas that developmentally challenged children tend to struggle the most with. We are also partnering with a variety of non-profit organizations to raise funds and awareness to different diagnoses and needs. Through blogging, we will assist in the education and relating caretaker experiences. I aim to create a sense of community among parents of children with special needs through my products and services.
Presley’s Playroom is seeking funding from several sources including personal savings, grants, and crowdfunding. I will use this funding towards my initial purchase order, logistics set-up, inventory space, and marketing to drive traffic to my website and promote sales. Danielle Nethercutt is the sole owner of Presley’s Playroom. Presley’s Playroom is a sole proprietorship. Danielle Nethercutt is a committed entrepreneur and mother of a special needs child whose mission is to create a safe space and support system for caretakers of developmentally disabled children.

- To date, I have invested about $4,000 of my own money.
- When did you start your business?
- Presley's Playroom was first started in March 2020. Presley's Playroom, LLC was made official on April 28, 2020.
- What is the vision of your company?
- I started my business in March 2020.My daughter, who was 8 at the time, was smart, caring, loving, full of energy, silly... but there was a constant struggle and battle raising a kid with special needs and development delays. We learned through multiple therapists and sessions, that play was the best, easiest, and fastest way for her to learn. The hardest question I would get, year after year, was "What does Presley want?" meaning what gifts/presents does she want for birthdays and holidays. She had all the necessities; more than she used. I spent endless hours researching the best toys/gadgets for her to use to develop her skills. Sure, there are places out there, but this niche market is in great demand. I want to help those in need with a one-stop-shop. Toys, games, gadgets, a place to share my daily struggles, educate other parents on how to think outside the box so their kids can better understand. And so, Presley's Playroom, LLC was built!
- What do you aim to accomplish in the first 5 years?
- Presley's Playroom's 5 year plan consists of providing and educating as much as I can to bring awareness and understanding to the special needs community. I aim to raise as much money as I can in the next 60 months. That's 60 charities/foundations/organizations who will receive donations to go towards research, studies, cures, treatments, outreach, etc. Over the next 5 years, I will have built a brand, a name for myself, and a community of my own. A safe place for frustrated parents and caregivers to go to read about my personal experiences and vent about theirs. A place with understanding, a place to learn and grow within themselves. A place where they don't have to feel alone. Not only will I be making a living to provide for myself and my daughter, I will have taught my daughter the value of hard work, the mindset to do anything she sets her mind to, and the power to put it in place.
