Gone are the day people look for jobs to sustain themselves, every day you will find people inventing themselves to create an income to sustain themselves and families. A lot of start-ups are sprucing up in different cities to fill a gap that has emerged, or a solution to a problem. In recent months in Mombasa, women have emerged in being entrepreneurs and helping provide for their families. Previously, women stayed at home to take care of their families, it was the responsibility of the man to provide financially. Due to the economy and more women being educated, more women are launching their careers in different fields and being entrepreneurs as well.  

As the trend escalates, there is a demand for marketing, sales and public relations. More women are looking for ways to market their product and business. Majority still lack skills, resources and knowledge on how to market their products in the competitive markets. With limited resources, time management (managing a house) and other economic factors many women end up closing their business or selling their company.  Even requesting for funds from financial institution has rigorous requirements that consumes their energy. Finding the right information and resources to build their business is difficult, success becomes a mirage.

Malkia Creative Media – Creative Studio

By creating a space for women to build their business and empower their business to grow into successful companies. Malkia Creative Studio will be a hub for photography for women in business. The studio will be managed by women to give female founders conducive environment to be able to work on their marketing materials for their products. By focusing on marketing trends and product development, the photography studio will capture images to highlight their products and learn on creating vibrant social media channels through one on one coaching through the photography sessions.

The creative studio will include all photography equipment, office space for post-production and meeting space for one-on-one coaching. The studio will target women in different sectors including, boutique owners (Handbags and shoes), organic hair and facial products, and including jewelry designer and any other locally made products. Each female founder/ entrepreneur will complete a process to create vibrant social media channels. From consulting, to photography sessions and building their social media channel.
