Hi there! We’re Pawstries, a gluten-free pet treat company based in Detroit, MI, driven to providing healthy and delicious snacks that are crafted with all-natural ingredients for dogs and cats. We’re on a continuous mission to provide healthy treats to our furry friends while educating and promoting animal health to our fellow pet parents and pet lovers. For our doggos we offer treats in flavors and proteins of peanut butter, peanut butter and banana, venison, and bison. Our dog treats come in two treat sizes such as small bites and biscuits, so that any size breed can have the option of enjoying. For our feline friends we offer cat treats in proteins of chicken, salmon, and tuna, and they come in the purrfect bite size.
Pawstries was founded by myself, Treasure Crocker, an animal nurse turned entrepreneur. I established this company in 2018 primarily out of my love for my own dogs, Chase and Bash, after Chase suffered from an allergic reaction to store bought treats. Their health and well-being is so important to me and with the pet treat industry growing in recent years, I felt it was necessary for pet owners to have a place where they could get 100% all-natural and gluten-free pet treats in order to help keep their pets happy and healthy.
The pet industry in the United States is currently worth over $222 billion and it’s expected to grow to over $325 billion by 2028. In this industry, about 92% of pet businesses are White, Non Hispanic owned, while less than 1% are owned by Black Americans. By Pawstries being registered as a Black woman-owned gluten-free pet treat company, the only one in Michigan as a matter of fact, we are indeed an anomaly.
Since our establishment in 2018, we have seen tremendous growth and have been able to provide our customers with pet treats that are packaged in sustainable packaging. We use glass jars for our product packaging and our customers are able to recycle, reuse, and repurpose the jars once the treats are gone. As a pet parent myself with fur babies who have allergies to gluten and poultry, trying to find pet food and treats that were 100% all-natural, gluten-free, contained no artificial preservatives, and were cost friendly, was very hard to find. I know so many other pet parents who deal with the same issues that I had, so Pawstries is able to cater to pet parents and lovers like myself who only want the best for their companions without breaking the bank.
We are raising money in order to switch our product packaging because with the inflation of the economy it has caused our production costs to increase which has unfortunately made us increase the price of our products. Part of our mission is to provide customers and their companions with treats that are cost friendly and with packaging such as custom stand up pouches, it will allow us to provide our customers with treats for half the price. The pouches will be sustainable and our customers will still be able to recycle or reuse the bags.
With the rebrand of product packaging, it will allow our company to expand into more regions of the US and international markets so that more people and their pets can experience the difference that Pawstries has to offer.
