Outdoor Ninja is a mobile app that rewards you for your outdoor discoveries. We have built an AI-based outdoor adventure discovery platform that understands your adventure preferences, learns from your past experiences, evaluate your likes, dislikes, inspirations and provides you personalized recommendations for your next set of adventures.
The Problem Outdoor Ninja Solves
The problem we are solving is that there are no adventure travel discovery tools that understand your skill level and your individual preferences. Traditional search-based solutions don’t factor important aspects like what you like to do, will you be able to do it, is it too risky for you, where to go, etc.
The Solution
All the solutions out there are search based which are both time-consuming and exhausting. This is where we differentiate ourselves. We brought in machine learning to make personalized recommendations that factor in the user’s adventure persona.
Through our mobile app, we understand the end user’s adventure preferences, learn from their past experiences, evaluate their likes, dislikes, skill level, and inspirations and reward them for their discoveries. Based on each individual’s unique profile that leverages our machine learning algorithms, we make recommendations for adventures that they would enjoy the most, should experiment with and guide them on how to get started. One of the things we are most proud of is our algorithm’s ability to assess a person's skill level and risk tolerance and recommend adventures that they can complete and enjoy. All you have to do is explore the outdoors, share your adventures and get rewarded for it.
We grant points to our users for sharing their outdoor discoveries - be it hiking, rock climbing, trail running, or anything that you love to do. These points can be redeemed for rewards. We offer a plethora of outdoor products at a significant discount as rewards. Currently, we are featuring more than 200 outdoor products like backpacks, tents, camping equipment etc as rewards on our platform.

Janisha Anand, CEO and Founder
I’m a technologist by trade but an outdoor enthusiast by choice. When I’m not coding, I can be found hiking locally on the trails in upstate NY. My passion for the outdoors and a constant search for the next challenge have taken me on numerous hiking and backpacking adventures, both domestically and internationally. My recent few feats have been a backpacking Tour de Mont Blanc covering a distance of 110 miles through the French, Italian and Swiss Alps summiting Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania; backpacking the W circuit in Patagonia, Chile; and hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Peru. I have been to over 39 national parks and countless state parks, and am still yearning to explore more!
I’m uniquely positioned to run my business. I bring in 12 years of industry experience in Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering at companies like Amazon, Cisco, and Oracle, and I am applying my experience to solve a challenge for a domain I’m personally passionate about. Having gone through the challenges around ‘where to go’, ‘what to do’, ‘will I be able to do this’, ‘how to get started’, ‘this is too risky’ while researching for my next outdoor adventure and having spoken to several outdoor enthusiasts, I validated the problem around not having a smart solution that understood the end user’s adventure personality, learnt from their past experiences and made suggestions accordingly.
Jason Nachamie, Business Development Lead
Finding his passion within the start-up community, Jason loves the way entrepreneurs can influence the business world just as much as he loves being outside. This recent University of Vermont grad has returned to NYC to pursue these passions, while still finding time to let his soul free snowboarding, rock climbing or hiking in the Green Mountains of Vermont or upstate in the Adirondack.
Jason has a degree in Community Entrepreneurship. At UVM he created the first student-run venture capital fund. After receiving a grant from the university’s research department, Jason was put as lead analyst for the Catamount Innovation Fund and was responsible for networking with local VC’s, marketing firms, design facilities and maker spaces.
Jason brings loads of dynamism and a fresh business acumen to help grow the Outdoor Ninja community.

Aejaj has a penchant for coding! He has a Masters in Computer Science and over 5 years of experience in Front-end web and mobile app development. When he isn't found behind his desk coding, he can be spotted on the trails in Catskills.

Jude loves finding hidden patterns and stories out of data. Every related to statistics and machine learning excites her. An indoor person who fell in love with discovering outdoor experiences while she was building recommendation engines for outdoor adventures!

There are 145 Million Outdoor Ninjas in the US alone. An Outdoor Ninja is an active outdoor adventure seeker who is looking to find their next adventure and share their discoveries as they make them. Outdoor Ninjas are social, well educated, and have a passion for pushing themselves to the limit.
Why are we raising money?
We are raising money on iFundWomen to grow the Outdoor Ninja community and to continue to develop useful features for the app to enhance their experience with us. At this point, we are only serving the hiking community. We want to expand our domain and serve adventures like rock climbing, mountain biking, trail running and the likes and we need your support!
