- What is the mission of your company or project?
- Pomcare’s mission is to normalize women’s health. Pomcare aims to empower women and help them feel in control of their health. We want to provide clinically validated care options, educate women with timely information, and create a community to become a support network for women. Women should not feel ashamed to talk about their vaginal health and we think education and an open forum will be the means to change this.
- Describe the problem you are solving.
- 21M women experience bacterial vaginosis.
- 75% of women will experience yeast infections at least once in their lifetime.
- 7M women get UTIs every year.
- 30% of the times these conditions come back within 12 months.
- Even though vaginal conditions are extremely common, care options are limited
- Making an appointment to see a gynecologist takes an average 3 weeks in the US.
- Getting OTC medications can lead to mistreatment. Only 11% of women can accurately self-diagnose their yeast infections.
- What is the market size/opportunity?
- Our serviceable available market is 27M women who have had UTI, BV, CV, and Trichomoniasis. An average test and treatment spend is $150 and women will use our service more than 3 times a year.
- What is your company/product about and how does it solve the problem?
- Pomcare is a women’s health company that makes it easy for women to manage common, recurring vaginal conditions (such as bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections) by providing direct-to-consumer at-home tests, telehealth consultations, and prescriptions.
- We have three products:
- One-time care: This includes one at-home test (a CLIA certified lab test), 10-min telehealth consultation, and a prescription service.
- Long-term care: This includes one at-home test, bi-weekly consultation sessions for 6 weeks, and a prescription service.
- A vaginal health app which allows women to track correlations between their vaginal health and lifestyle factors.
- Why are you seeking funding and how will you spend the funding?
- We will spend this funding to prove traction for a proper pre-seed round.
- Who is on your team?
- Sonia - my background is in user experience research focusing on healthcare. I’ve created new products and ventures grounded in patient needs through my experience in consulting and working as a UX researcher at a digital therapeutic start-up.
- Dustin - experience building out operations and logistics. Dustin ran logistics in Afghanistan, launched a new Amazon fulfillment Center, worked in operations in a Mexican Mezcal company and a YC-back Nigerian logistics platform.
