My name is Margie Traxler, and I am the Founder and President of Grain Free Mama's. Sixteen years ago, I was sitting in a doctor’s office with my then 6 year old Anna Mae and heard the words that would not only drastically change our lives, but also birth a passion in me. What were those words…? ‘When Anna Mae eats wheat and sugar, it makes a toxic punch that is burning little holes in her intestines.” I am a Biologist (Microbiology specialization) and that single sentence started me on a quest to train myself to become a food scientist for the health of my children. I simply refused to accept that my 3 children had to live their lives envying everyone else’s food…my goal was for everyone to envy theirs.
As I write this message we are in the midst of a stay-at-home order to slow the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19). 2020 has started out a whole different way than we expected. Grocery store shelves are needing to be re-stocked several times per day. Yet, amidst the vastly empty grocery stores, people must still eat. Food production and manufacturing must ago on to replenish and supply stores with products to feed the people.
I started this company, through bootstrapping, in late 2017. Why? I KNEW that I was sitting on a ‘goldmine’, if you will, of a new kind of baking mixes (and in the future baking products) that will revolutionize the way baked goods are produced. The grasses family (all grains, corn, rice and sugarcane) have been the ingredients used to make baked goods…sweets and treats. Yet this single family of ingredients cause the most inflammation and subsequent illness and disease in the human body. Wow! Once my daughter got sick back in 2004, I became extremely, passionately motivated to create baked goods another way, a way that would nourish and not cause inflammation.
Thus far I have done all that you will see below by bootstrapping; i.e. by learning everything I needed to, learning to formulate, using my resources the most efficient way and repeatedly knocking on very large doors. Again why? In the same way that I have been able to create unique and innovative baking mixes for my children and friends, it was time to produce these fabulous products for the more than 194 million people (and that’s just in the United States) that can greatly benefit from them. Foods can hurt or foods can heal. These foods help people to heal.
I do not have another ‘job’ that supports me. This is my full-time passion. I have been using everything I have because I absolutely believe in the tremendous opportunity and need of these first 10 products, and all the other products that we will develop. My ingenuity, passion and limited budget has moved the company this far…now we need the funds to grow and flourish. My passion has grown into a company that is being noticed, and the doors of opportunity are wide open.
Conservatively, 10-15% of the population world-wide cannot digest gluten and grains. More and more individuals are developing IBS, Type 2 Diabetes, Lupus, MS, and numerous other Autoimmune Diseases associated with gluten, grains and inflammation in the body.
Consumers today want healthy baked goods, and I get it because 17 years ago I did too. The problem is the lack of Grain Free and Sugar Free Baking Mixes and Products available for purchase.
Grain Free Mama’s goal is to provide the foods and resources that we wish would have been available when we first got started. We refuse to accept that people who eat this way have to envy conventional foods that make people sick. We are changing this…. we are putting the SIMPLY back into SIMPLY GOOD EATING BAKING MIXES. Our foods help your body to look great, feel great and give you a clear mind to live the best life you can.
Eating healthy can, and absolutely should, include excellent tasting foods that look, taste and feel normal. It doesn’t have to take a stay-at-home person to accomplish it either.
We want to help people to live their life to the fullest by making good-for-you quick and easy to achieve. We know how busy life can get, but also know all to well how much harder it is if you are foggy-minded, bloated and exhausted!
Eating your way back to, or maintaining, a healthier you and me is the way to go.
