Project Description

Native-Owned

Neon Moon is a Native-Woman Owned social enterprise, giving patrons everywhere a convenient way to support Native American and Indigenous communities.

Supporting Indigenous Artists

Featuring available fair trade pieces from Native + Indigenous makers, we offer a unique cultural experience between creators and modern consumers. Get to know Indigenous artists as they honor their ancestral purpose, and support them directly by purchasing one of a kind hand-made creations.

Giving Back to Native Communities

Creating the opportunity to learn about current Native initiatives, we encourage heritage preservation with a way for allies to directly support. By contributing a percentage of monthly proceeds towards Native + Indigenous communities, we serve as allies in the fight for social justice.

Decolonizing Fair Trade Coffee

100% organic, fair trade certified, shade-grown and harvested by Native Maya farmers using ancient regenerative farming techniques that heal the earth. By establishing this collaboration, we are creating a harmonious cycle of renewed hope and solidarity between the general American consumer, the Earth, and its Indigenous peoples.

Encouraging Environmental Sustainability

Ethical and socially conscious, we’re implementing actionable habitual efforts in-house like composting, recycling and eco-friendly processes. Each bag of coffee comes in 100% compostable, shelf-stable packaging.

Proceeds from each coffee purchase contributes towards social justice for Indigenous people by means of:

  • Honoring and healing the earth
  • Self-sufficiency and political independence
  • Sustainable development of rural communities
  • Child welfare, including education & nutrition
  • Defense of indigenous cultural identity
  • Education in organic agriculture

We need your help.

In a time where friends and businesses are echoing statements about supporting BIPOC, we created an opportunity to make a difference. By contributing to this fund, you are directly involved in the creation of Nashville’s first Native-Owned social enterprise. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing our mission will inspire your friends, family, peers, and colleagues to make a revolutionary impact. You never know who the message resonates with until you put it in the hands of those around you.

Not only is this a great accountability practice, but by believing in and supporting our mission, you inspire the people around you to make a difference. You have a direct role in our success.

What we need most is sponsors and donors who believe that Native and Indigenous heritage must be preserved and protected. Minorities are long overdue to receive reparations. Our mission shines a light on the depths of Indigenous presence, giving patrons everywhere the opportunity to uplift Native and Indigenous communities near and far.

This is an opportunity to acknowledge, honor, and respect Native heritage and the extensive efforts being made to preserve and protect our culture. By contributing to this mission, you become a valuable ally to Indigenous communities. You uplift the voices of Indigenous peoples! Your support is essential.

A Word From Our Founder:

“As an Indigenous woman, my dream is to bridge the gap between modern consumerism and sustainability for Native and Indigenous peoples. I want to give my city an opportunity to financially support Indigenous communities and empower them. We are connecting the general public with a unique cultural experience to support Indigenous makers. Our certified organic coffee comes from an Indigenous cooperative where families farm together on their own land. All packaging is 100% compostable and recyclable to reduce harm to the environment. With each purchase, you support Indigenous people and contribute towards healing the Earth.”

The Campaign FAQs

Where is Neon Moon Hi*Voltage Saloon?

We will be opening in East Nashville, TN. This campaign will help us secure the funding to lock in our lease,  put down deposit, and start the remodeling process. Your contributions and efforts to share this mission will directly impact our ability to make it happen. We have our funding needs broken down below.

When will you be open?

The goal is to be open and fully operable by October. Funding is a critical step in this process. We need to be able to get our location locked in, remodeled, and have enough funds to pay our employees a fair wage from day one. You can help us open by donating and spreading the word!

It's a Saloon, do you sell alcohol?

No. Neon Moon will not be serving alcohol at this time. This is a daytime saloon, designed in tribute to Wild West culture and the original vaqeuras and cowfolk that inspired cowboy culture. I reckon you'll be gettin your beer next door, partner.

When do I get my reward?

Sooner rather than later. We will be using the funds from this campaign to efficiently place orders based on quantity purchased. We set the date for arrivals to be October 2021. We would like to have them to you before then, but are anticipating production, fulfillment and shipping times in the timeline.

Indigenous Paintings - Set of 3

Designed and painted by Indigenous artist MalaHora, this set of 3 8x10 prints was made especially for Neon Moon.

MALA HORA is the studio name for the art of Gabi, an artist occupying stolen Kiikaapoi, Kaw, and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ land in the Midwest.

Descending from a long line of women writers and artists, ranch-hands and painters, their personal motifs and artistic explorations include: history, science fiction, ephemera, comics, flora/fauna, ancestry, mythology and magic.

Gabi attempts to bend western, historical, nonfiction books/resources that systematically excluded their ancestors in their own contemporary narrative and designs. A student of life, of plants, of history and of abolition, MALA HORA is an ancestral love letter: to queer vaquerx culture, midcentury pachucas, and to every story buried under textbook whitewashing and deliberate erasure.
