Mobile Dental Xpress: Saving Our Seniors

Mobile Dental Xpress Wellness & Nutrition is a 501(c) 3 organization developed to provide free dental care to older adults and veterans in the community who cannot afford to do so on their own. 

I am Sonya Dunbar, the Geriatric Tooth Fairy; and I have a passion to bring Oral Care to aging adults who cannot afford it. My passion to help began when my grandmother was placed in a nursing home. I was able to see firsthand how oral care in the senior community was neglected. Surprisingly, seniors do not get the basic oral care of getting their teeth brushed daily.  

Your donation will allow us to take dental care to Seniors & Veterans in the community that cannot afford care. We will provide cleanings, simple extractions, dentures, and denture repairs all at no cost. 

Statistic: 13% of Jacksonville, FL residents are seniors and do not have access to quality dental care; many cannot afford co-payment or lack transportation. Proper oral health care is essential to overall health. If our mouth is not healthy, our whole body is not healthy. Many veterans and older adults in underserved areas suffer from a lack of adequate dental care. Many systemic diseases are linked to poor oral health, such as heart disease, Alzheimer's, cancer, and heart disease.  

MDX is designed for Seniors and Veterans that live in the community that does not have access to dental care. MDX has been serving elders in long-term care facilities for seven years. We want to send out an S.O.S and help Save Our Seniors providing free comprehensive dental care.  

The goal is to raise $20,000 to refurbish the mobile dental unit and purchase a truck to move it around the city to provide much-needed dental care.
