Melanin&Mimosas Community Healing!

Melanin&Mimosas is a healing centered collective for Black identified women. We aim to uplift, cherish, and hold holy our stories and lived experiences of Black women through dialogue, self-care activities, days at the lake, and good food with Mimosas! 

My name is CieraJevae and I am the founder, and co-organizer of this collective, along with Mikaela Wilburn. Our work consists of planning, promoting, and organizing safe spaces for Black women to build in healthy communication, promote their business, and more! We are coming up on 1 year in October, and it has been a true pleasure in co-creating this space. 

Every month we hold healing circles for Black women to process grief, discuss business ideas, artistry, cultivating safe spaces etc. Our mission is simply to learn more effective ways to repair relationships, learn more about our culture and identities, and build healthier community spaces. 

With that, we recognize that we are a very small team of two, that we can't keep this going without the support of our community of friends, family, allies, and supporters. The two of us work at a non-profit serving our youth in the community, and we are eager to find funding in order to support the young adults within our community as well. On average, we spend over $400 each every month paying for venues, food, materials for activities, and some times mini field trips. It's important for us to keep our ticket prices low so that our co-created healing space is accessible for everyone.

We are now raising $1,000 in preparation for our 1 year anniversary in October!  We have been able to serve and be in community with so many Black women & men from around the Bay Area. With these funds, we would be able to secure a steady location, purchase more outreach materials, as well as pay the cost for becoming a 501c organization so that we are able to access more grants and sustain this healing focused collective!
