OUR STORY
Loka.Haus is a lifestyle brand that designs and produces high-quality, sustainable products with a small-batch, luxury feel. “Loka” is a Sanskrit term defining the different planes or realities that constitute our universe. Loka.Haus products are created to suit all your needs, no matter what loka you exist in right now. Exercise, lounge, work, or play, Loka.Haus is made for you. Our mission is to end “fast fashion”, provide luxury goods at an accessible level, and address (and educate consumers on) economic gender inequities, specifically in retail and business.
OUR BATTLECRY
What if your dollars could positively impact people’s lives? What if you could create change by simply shopping for the products you already purchase? Why spend money on brands that don’t represent or respect you?
Traditional luxury brands have enforced classism, status distortion, and unattainable “social” goals around the world. Fast fashion has warped purchase habits by an increase of 60% compared to 15 years ago, but each item is on average kept half as long. Much worse than that, the attempt to keep up with these revolving standards not only perpetuates unnecessary overspending, it also exacerbates the existing economic disparities within traditional retail.
THE (UN)FUN FACTS
Here’s the problem: current fashion brands capitalize on cheap labor, unsustainable manufacturing practices, and gender/diversity inequities.
1) Fast fashion alone accounts for 2% of the global GDP and is also the largest global polluter in the world, contributing 4% total waste. Fast fashion produces more (waste) at a lower price, devaluing human capital and quality design at an exponential rate.
2) Women earn 18% less than men as of 2019 but spend 3x more on clothing. That means they are putting most of that back into irresponsible corporations and men's pockets. Women deserve equal pay, period. Equal pay is not only better for women, but better for the economy.
3) Only 40% of womenswear brands are designed by women, and only 14% of major brands are run by women - all while the ideal "model" body runs rampant. Women know women best and therefore should be at the forefront of making women's fashion decisions - and deciding what is best for their body.
OUR MASTER PLAN
Loka.Haus seeks to provide holistic change through:
APPAREL FOR EVERYWEAR (pun intended): made with sustainable or ethically sourced fabric, designed for multiple uses
GLOW OUT: Skincare & fragrance made with ethical (and minimal) ingredients, and 0 toxic preservatives
SPIRITUAL SHINE: Artisan jewelry of natural gemstones and precious metals, targeted for beauty and wellness (think chakras and mala beads)
ART AS ACTIVISM: Original art made of non-toxic materials, with intention and purpose (it will be pretty too…)
SPEAK OUR TRUTH: blog, newsletter, and partnerships to raise awareness and educate on sustainable practices & diversity disparities
BONUS – we give back 10% of sales to charitable organizations to support female equity, diversity, and sustainability

HOW YOU HELP
Opening a business isn't cheap or easy! While the opening phase is already underway, Loka.Haus still needs your support. Crowdfunding not only helps financially, it also helps us to qualify the market, gain real feedback, and pivot products/ideas MUCH more quickly. This fund specifically is set up as "pretail", which basically means our products are made to order :) It isn't a typical donation - you are getting real product in return, and we very much want your interaction and feedback! This is also the best way for us to raise awareness for our business, our cause, and start networking with like-minded people and organizations.
This is the start of building our Loka.Haus fam!
BEHIND LOKA
I am a native Texan, graduate from University of Texas Austin, with a Bachelor’s in Textiles & Apparel: Design. I have always been passionate about the environment and the arts. I’ve worked in industries ranging from retail to technology to hospitality, but starting a business that makes a difference has always been my plan. For now, it's a very small team, with the help of a few close friends. I know that now is the time for Loka.Haus, and I'm excited for our launch and our future growth!
