The Problem
1 in 10 workers are independent contractors with many economists predicting that by 2027 the majority of workers will be contract workers. We're also seeing that 40% of Americans can't cover a $400 emergency expense. The average worker doesn't need to be an economist to know that the economy isn't working for them.
- Uber and Lyft drivers want a place to go to the bathroom and get food in-between pickups.
- Nannies want to meet other nannies in a job that tends to be isolating.
- Freelance workers want a space to collaborate with one another.
- With this new workforce, we need to think about new solutions to meet the basic needs of workers who don't have a workplace in this new gig economy.
The Solution
LevelUp Washington is launching the first-of-its-kind caffeinated worker center! That's right - we want to be based in our very own coffee shop! Not only are we creating a new movement for workers, but a gathering spot where you can enjoy coffee, tea, alcoholic beverages, and food while being able to receive resources on-site and build community.
We want our coffee bar to be as interactive as our membership and a safe space for all who walk through our doors, but especially for workers who want to share grievances, ideas, and build community over coffee, delicious food, and adult beverages!
How You Can Help
Back us! We want to raise $10,000 to cover start up costs, conduct final market research for our first location, connecting with commercial realtors, partner further with iFundWomen, and get our first round of seed money.
