What is the mission of LB Littles?
Founded in 2018, LB Littles exists to make parent life easier and more fun. We believe in community and we believe in Long Beach. We create unique, memorable events for families with kids ages 12 and under, and curate ideas of all the best things to do in our community on any given day.
Our ultimate goal is to bring this same sense of community to cities outside of Long Beach, but we have a few steps to take before we get there including raising a bit of capital.
Announcing The Little Membership
We're launching a membership plan! Over the past year we’ve hosted some truly one-of-a-kind events, including Littlepalooza, Noon Year’s Eve, Kids' Prom, and Camp Littles. (Don't worry, these events will keep going strong for members and non-members alike!)
A membership plan will strengthen the LB Littles community by offering more opportunities to try kids activities from local providers, score discounts, and snag invitations to members-only events.
Be part of the beta group and snag an invite to our exclusive founding member launch party for families this fall.
Membership will launch in September 2019 for $199 per year. Join ahead of time and save!
The Little Membership will include:
- Access to exclusive Members-Only events for families
- Examples of events:
- Free classes for kids
- Character breakfasts
- Parents night out events with child care
- Saturday Morning Cartoons at the movie theatre
- And lots more surprises in store. Throughout the year there will be more than 50 opportunities to attend special members-only events.
- Discounts for family dining at local restaurants
- Gifts from sponsors like Bumkins, Thermos, and more
- Presale and VIP access to our festival events
- Special rates on memberships and classes with local providers of kids activities
Memberships are for kids ages 12 and under, though we’ll offer events under three categories:
Babies (0-2), Toddlers-Preschool (3-5), Elementary Age (6-12)
Memberships are good for up to two caregivers and two children, additional kids may be added on at $50 per kid, per year.
Don’t worry, we’ll still have events available throughout the year for non-members too. Consider this an addition to our program, not taking anything away.
We know the member price can be steep for lots of families in our community, so we're starting a subsidized Community Membership Plan.
Full price members can opt to contribute to the sponsor fund for families who wouldn't normally be able to afford The Little Membership.
Families wanting a subsidized Community Membership will sign up on a waiting list (upon launch in September), and as funds become available they will be offered a Community Membership at only $40 per year.
As the sponsor fund is filled, more and more sponsored families will be invited from the waiting list.
The problem we're solving...
It’s such a pain in the ass to find activities for kids all in one place, or find family festivals that are actually fun for adults too. We’re aiming to solve all of that.
We create one-of-a-kind family experiences.
An ultimate NYE party for kids with a countdown at 12 noon? We have that. A special brunch where kids can eat with their favorite superheroes and movie characters (while parents sip mimosas)? Got that too. The ultimate family music festival? Littlepalooza has more than covered that.
With membership, we’ll be able to open up opportunities for even more unique experiences for local families while strengthening our community.
We connect families with awesome brands and providers of kids’ activities
I hated researching every city’s website and hunting down a dance class to compare prices with another dance class only to find out the time slot didn’t fit in our schedule. As they say in the infomercials, there’s gotta be a better way.
LB Littles will always curate a list of kids activities and classes whether businesses pay for a listing or not.
In our opinion, that’s one of the biggest failings of other kids’ activity sites - too much pay for play results in skewed and useless listings for parents. We are solving for this by continually adding to our directory, and soon we’ll be adding the option to book kids’ activities from local providers directly from our site.
We’ve proven that this model can work in the LA market, that national and local sponsors are eager to reach this audience at events.
The next BIG step is dipping our toes in waters outside of Long Beach and hiring teams in other cities. We’re not quite there yet.
We’re not raising funds for that step just yet, we’re raising funds now in order to:
- Enhance LB Littles to offer e-commerce and membership functionality
- Have capital to continue hosting memorable events for families in our community
- Hire staff to help keep content flowing throughout the LB Littles ecosystem
Who is LB Littles
Oh hi! That’s me, Hazel. I’ve been doing this events and marketing thing for a long time. From wedding planning, to marketing for Yelp, to consulting at early-stage tech startups, to product management, it’s safe to say I come to the table with a lot of experience.
Entrepreneurship is in my bones, all the way back to my first yard sale when I was 12 years old and sold all of my brothers’ Ninja Turtle action figures for $5. (Sorry guys!)
Since 2007, the number of women-owned businesses in the US has increased by 58 percent, which is better than businesses overall, which increased by only 12 percent. That’s crazy exciting. And I’m so pumped to be part of that movement in growing and strengthening women-owned business.
