Project Description
- My mission is to spread happiness through the enjoyment of Hungarian chimney cakes. After traveling to over 35 countries and living in the NYC area, I was stunned to learn about Hungarian chimney cakes when I moved there in 2013.
- While living in Hungary, I created Kurly Kürtősh, a boutique dessert caterer specializing in authentic Hungarian chimney cakes. We use the purest international ingredients while preserving the authentic old-world craftsmanship.
- But what is a chimney cake? Chimney cakes are a popular street food, typically described as a cross between a hollow churro and a donut.

A Chocolate Raspberry Chimney Cake - I designed a business model that celebrated its magical spirit and created the perfect chimney cake experience. We source our ingredients from a top NYC spice purveyor and international gourmet wholesalers. We preserve it's old world craftsmanship by using an award-winning recipe and baking each chimney by hand.

Photo: facebook.com/VitézKürtős - Lastly, we weave in engaging storytelling explaining chimney cakes & the Kurly Kürtősh journey while serving a yummy treat. Most events are predictable and majority of desserts are processed, but our "Dessertainment®" offers a new take on the dessert station/table.
- We bake on-site, customizing every chimney cake and serving them hot out of the oven. It's an experience that wows onlookers every time.
- The dedication to the craft has paid off. We are proud to work with highly regarded establishments, such as, Bloomingdale's, Williams-Sonoma & the Nutella Café-NYC. Our highest honor was to be invited to bake at the Hungarian Embassy 2 years in a row and being selected as Bank of America's 2019 Woman Business Owner Spotlight Feature. All was going well and then COVID hit.

Participated in Hungary's EU Day Celebration - Business stopped coming in and I was left to pivot, offering curbside pick up, party favors and gift packages. While we survived the 1st wave of COVID, we are seeking to thrive beyond COVID.
- Recently, we were invited to move into a retail and food marketplace in Northern NJ. We are looking for support to create a dessert destination that embodies happiness and creates a space to "unkurl your sweet spot". (Our tagline)
- We need capital to design the space, obtain permits, build out the space (including substantial electrical modifications), obtain equipment, website re-launch and branding/marketing material totaling $26,000.
- In the meantime, we are scheduling pop-up events and collaborating on holiday/seasonal items to generate cash. COVID has set us back significantly but $10,000 would be a great resource to bring the Kurly Kürtősh experience to life.
- While I am the sole Dreamer 100% dedicated to the Kurly Kürtősh vision. I would never be where I am today without the Dream Team that includes my husband and children, friends from Hungary, family and friends in the US and new unexpected dream builders who have have helped me along the way.

- What is a chimney cake? A popular street food from Central Europe that offers a crispy, flavorful outside and a soft, fluffy inside. It's the perfect cross between a pastry and French beignet.
- Can we ship? We don't ship. Our toppings are delicate and will melt in transit.
- Do you cater? Yes ,Catering is our speciality.
- Do you delivery? Only within a 15 minute radius of the shop.
