THE BIG PICTURE

Everywhere you look, women’s sports are on the rise. From participation to sponsorship, attendance to viewership, every trend is pointing up. Athletes and teams who have had to fight to make their voices heard are rapidly forcing their way into the mainstream, making now the perfect time to establish the media platform for all things women’s sports.

OUR MISSION

To bring you everything you need to see, hear, and know in the world of women’s sports. From short highlights on Instagram to podcasts, newsletters, and exclusive online features and interviews, Just Women’s Sports is dedicated to providing underserved fans unprecedented access to their favorite athletes and teams. After years of waiting for traditional platforms to step up their game, we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands. We know that representation matters, that role models are necessary, and that without better coverage of female athletes and women’s sports we are robbing future generations of their inspiration and courage.

WHY US?

We get the voice, the tone, and the vibe of women’s sports. Our team is made up of current and ex-professional athletes who have an authentic relationship with the space and understand what’s missing in sports media today. Our team of athlete advisors include some of the accomplished figures in sports today: Kelley O’Hara, Kerri Walsh, Hilary Knight, Nneka Ogwumike, and more. From the USWNT to the WNBA, the community is behind us, and we have a roster of athlete partners who are stoked to be our allies.

The Campaign FAQs

But why just women’s sports?

  • Everything we do — from quick highlight on social to long-form written pieces — will meaningfully contribute to building a thriving women’s sports ecosystem. Investing in this space doesn’t pull us away from other parts of our business as it does for the legacy platforms.

Aren’t women’s sports too niche?

  • Besides being half of the world’s population, women also make up nearly half of all D1 athletes, Olympians, and youth sports participants. This is a massive population of athletes that is severely underserved at the moment. The only reason the sports may seem niche is because they haven’t received equitable media coverage. If you were just going off the homepages of the existing sports media platforms, you wouldn’t know that women’s sports exist. But trust us, they’re out there.

But how do you know there’s an audience?

  • 84% of sports fans say they are interested in women’s sports, and 51% of those fans are men. The myth that women’s sports only attract female fans was busted years ago, and you only need to have tuned in to last summer’s World Cup to know women’s sports attract fans from all walks of life. The audience is there, they just aren’t being served.

Don’t traditional platforms already cover women’s sports?

  • Technically, yes, but you’d be hard pressed to find either consistent or quality coverage. For years, these platforms have been promising their fans that they’ll expand their women’s sports coverage. And yet, study after study shows that the percentage of sports media dedicated to women’s sports is not currently growing, despite increases in viewership, attendance, and sponsorship, meaning these platforms just aren’t keeping up.
  • A big problem is that existing media brands don’t have an authentic relationship to the space, in large part because they’ve either historically ignored women’s sports, or only pushed content that was hyper-sexualized. Athletes and fans of women’s sports don’t trust these platforms, which is why we’ve focused from day one on securing athlete buy-in and insuring that everything we do is supported by the amazing women already in this space.

Most importantly, what sizes do the sweatshirts come in?

  • The sweatshirts come in unisex sizes: S, M, L, XL.
