Hello my name is Kimberly Brooker Gagnon. I am the owner of a new innovative business called Pumpkins Pets and Youth Services. have you ever wanted to make a difference weather it be to make a difference in the world, in someones life or in your community? I know I wanted to, now here's your chance to make a difference. In 2019  while having lunch with my mom. I was very excited telling her about the business idea I came up with for a pet care service business. I still felt like there was something missing I wanted to help my community and my city as much as I could.  I asked my mom what she thought I should do to help out my community. She was reading something in the newspaper so I let her finish and then she was still looking down at the paper she said our communities youth and teen girls suffering mental health disorders, trauma, depression and low self-esteem are in trouble as she looked up at tears were running down her cheeks as she said we are losing more and more every year the amount of suicides from youth under the age of 16 is staggering in 2018 the percentage of Youth suicide deaths was 8% and in 2022 the youth percentage is 27% under the age of 15. My mom said I know your the right person to do this. We began to work on structuring of a youth learning  program to add to my business. My mom came up with a great learning program structure and I was ready to add it to my business, sadly my mom would never see my business or her learning program come to life. August 4th 2020 at 7:28 a.m I lost my best friend my mom. I fell into a deep depression feeling lost and alone for around about a year not talking very much and heartbroken. My husband at a loss of what to do to make me happy again placed a small white puppy on my lap in the hopes the puppy could possibly bring me back. Needless to say she did. It was October 31st 2021 so I named the puppy Pumpkin seemed fitting. Then September 2022 Pumpkins Pets and Youth Services was a legit registered business. December of  2022 I opened my home to six youth and ten clients. The difference in the youth within three weeks was amazing they started showing self-confidence compassion to the needs of others, the need for structure, love for someone else, self-esteem, and they started making friends when they couldn't do that before. Their grades in school begin to pick up. The girls parents were at awe of how fast some of the girls started to listen to their parent started showing respect for others. All thanks to our clients pets and the learning program structure of my moms. It is scientifically proven that pets help people with mental health cope with their disorders. I'm proof of that pumpkin help me she's not only the namesake of my business she's my service dog. I now have weightless for both aspects of the business. Sadly I cannot take any more youth  or clients as I do not have the room. The business is in need of a larger property to lease, more employees, and bus tickets for the youth to be able to come and go whenever they can. No youth should be left behind because they have no way to get here . I have found a business building that would allow me to hold up to eighty pets and twenty six  youth. I would need to hire more employees. Including a youth mental health worker, and a youth coordinator, and a few others for the pet services. As per my mom's wish that the learning program stays free to our communities Youth teen girls. The learning program is now called Wendy's wish learning program in my mom's honor.   I am asking for donations for the lease so I can provide the greatest care for our clients pets, bus tickets so no youth gets left behind, and to be able to hire two Youth Services workers and six employees for the Pet Care service side of my unique innovative business.
