What we need
Homeschool Yo Kids Organization is asking for a funding to secure venue space, assist with marketing, and travel expenses for the Homeschool Yo Kids Expos 2023.
Problems we are solving
Working in the public school system allowed us to see and experience the disparities, systemic programming, and loss of purpose and identity which are fundamentally woven into a normalized system associated with the majority of human growth and development, causing us to reimagine and restructure a narrative for a new normal in regard to education and learning. We are all life learners on a journey that allows us to have and create experiences to continuously learn and grow from.
Outcomes we aim to achieve
Homeschool Yo Kids organization is a nonprofit that was established this year to provide families with tools and resources on unconventional learning methods while encouraging the creation of a positive home learning environment. With this organization and the programs we are building we are also aiming to help families in traditional schools build a healthy and collaborative relationship between school and home. This homeschool organization focuses on building confidence in parents to ensure that they are able to serve as their child’s best guide in their educational journey in their homes or through traditional school settings.
Strategies we are implementing
Understanding how important it is for parents to be confident in the role they play in their children's education as their most qualified, first teacher. This is a role parents are asked to lead, no matter the school placement of a child, at home or in a traditional school setting. We currently have programs in place to ensure that parents have continuous access to resources, tools, and community encouragement to assist them in being proactive and present in their children’s educational journey.
Homeschool Yo Kids Expos 2023
We are currently organizing a traveling homeschool expo that will take place over the course of Summer 2023. We are working to conduct at least 7 different homeschool expos in the following states: Arizona, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Minnesota. The purpose of the homeschool expo is to provide families with tools and resources that create and build an open mindset, encourage social emotional development within the whole family, and provide methods that will allow for positive growth and development through the home learning experience. These expos will include workshops, speakers, and exhibitions with various homeschool hands on material, curriculum, courses, and other resources that will build confidence in families and their home learning journey over a 2 day period in each state
R.A.R.E.
Rare (Rising Above Regular Expectations of learning) Mentorship Program- Includes a buddy system based on self-interest that connects parents, families, and young learners based on common interest and location having families come together virtually or physically to complete project-based learning opportunities together that tie with young learner's interests. The organization will hold weekly meetings to check in with the families, provide learning ideas, resources, and tips, workshops, virtual field trips, or speakers based on young learner's interest, and just an overall space for families to connect and learn together. The weekly meetings will be free for families to sign up for.
Homeschool Weekly Meetups
Working to ensure that families understand that they have community support as they embody the role of their children’s first teacher, we host weekly meetings on Zoom to allow parents to meet and fellowship with other families. These are free weekly meetings that are open to all families with kids. In these weekly meetings, families are able to build with each other, organize community co-ops, and share stories about their family’s learning journey.
Our Partners
We are currently building partnerships with other homeschool parents, homeschool service providers, authors, community leaders, healing practitioners, teachers, youth advocates, and other nonprofits that are on a mission to help families fundamentally grow on their home learning journey.
Homeschool Yo Kids Organization understands the importance of collective healing. We model a growth mindset in knowing the benefit of uniting all individuals with a common purpose of raising, guiding, and successfully leading children to reach their highest potential. We are leaders in our community and strive to bridge the gap between all communities regardless of race or economic classification. We work with everyone. We love everyone.
There are no limits in life and reimagining what learning looks like is the first step to ensuring that there are no limits set. The potential of an individual is filled with endless possibilities when we are encouraged to think, feel, and be limitless.
