Imani Montessori Field Study

Imani Montessori is endeavoring to take their secondary students on a field study to The Source Farm Ecovillage ( for the second time!) Our last trip was pre-covid when our adolescents traveled to Jamaica with a teacher and two parent chaperones. They engaged in permaculture design, organic produce farming, and ecology and botany studies. This summer will be our first trip post-covid and will include similar study work as well as indigenous land stewardship and animal husbandry practices.

The trip will be for 2 weeks and will cost $2000 per student. Although the price is reasonable, for many of our families, it is still out of reach. My goal is to raise funds to offset (or cover completely) the cost of this trip for our students, and I've never done anything like this before. Any and all help is greatly appreciated to make this trip a reality for the students.

At Imani Montessori Community School, we provide high-quality, culturally relevant, soul-nourishing Montessori Education that supports children and adolescents in the traditionally underserved community of East Nashville and surrounding areas in Tennessee. We offer a robust academic experience and child-tailored enrichment that includes financial education, business modeling, coaching and development, creative writing, arts, music, Afro-Brazilian Capoeira, agricultural, trade, and vocational studies. While the bulk of the work Imani Montessori does is centered around and directly focused on the education and enrichment of children, Imani Montessori also provides free Montessori Educator Training to homeschooling parents in the Nashville community and surrounding areas. Of course, none of this would be possible without the generous support from our community. With past donations, we have been able to hire a part-time Music teacher, implement our Earth Seed (farm school) curriculum, bring professionals for vegan cooking classes and dietary instruction, yoga, capoeira, and arts instruction, and take our students on an intercession field study to St. Thomas, Jamaica! All while offering tuition assistance to over 69% of our student body!
