The Foster Accountability app is designed to allow foster parents the ability to document, track, and record information that has to be reported for the children in their care. It allows them to be able to communicate with the bio parents directly within the app to avoid sharing personal information. The app also allows notes and activities to be entered and time stamped for reporting purposes
More about me and why I’m the perfect person to solve this problem:
In October 2019, my family started the journey of being a Foster/Kinship family. When our little one was placed with us, we were made aware of the numerous visits, appointments, and documentation that we would have to report monthly to the caseworker. It became overwhelming and I immediately set out to find an app to keep all of the information in one place. In my search, I found several different apps that could help me, but not everything was in one app and none of them were specific to foster care. I realized the difficulty of not only trying to keep up with all the appointments and visits, but I still had to keep up with the tracking and documenting events. This is when I realized an app that allows you to do all of this in one place is necessary. I began working with a developer to help me create an app that not only allows foster parents to document and track information, but one that also allows them to generate specific reports based on the data recorded. The app would also simplify communication between biological parents and foster parents with in-app messaging, calling and video calling. This keeps foster parent’s personal phone numbers and/or emails private. Pictures and videos can even be exchanged. Time stamps messages are recorded to make it easy to capture when calls, messages, and videos occurred. Foster parents are able to effortlessly schedule visits, appointments, and other activities; as well as, mark them as complete, missed, incomplete, etc. This app will be a game changer to foster parents as there is a strong need to have one single platform to house and summarize all of the necessary information for the foster children in their care.
