Hippie Hounds Cannabis Treats
"Hippie hounds is an astounding collaboration of my two passions, canines and cannabis."
Andrea Harris is the owner and CEO of Hippie Hounds LLC. She began working with dogs as a handler and trainer in her teenage years. She attended the Veterinary Technology program at Arkansas State University in Beebe, AR. She worked in general practice for several years before finding her love of emergency and critical care. Her passion for animals has even sent her to South Africa in the summer of 2018! She is currently being certified as a veterinary cannabis counselor, set to complete the course in March 2020. An active member of norml and Arkansas for Cannabis Reform, Andrea hopes to help make Arkansas the first southern state to end marijuana prohibiton.
Is cannabis safe for canines?
Cannabis is saving lives, current research tells us it is shrinking tumors, erasing pain, stimulating appetite, stopping seizures, decreasing swelling, and giving people their lives back. All mammals have an endocannabinoid system, meaning our animals could benefit from this versatile plant just as much as we can. Pivotal strides in the research of the canine endocannabinoid system are being made by Colorado State University, Cornell University, and AAHA to name a few. Our market research shows us that the majority of CBD products available on the market for dogs are capsules and tinctures. Capsules have to be purchased in large volumes and the tinctures can require upwards of 15 drops for a single dose.
Imagine, thunder cracking overhead and you’re wrestling with your 80 pound German Shepherd with storm anxiety. Desperately trying to get drops to land in his mouth. Allow us to eliminate that.
Our pets deserve a safe, natural, dependable treat, offered in a variety of strengths with enticing flavor. We believe in the entourage effect, meaning the THC and CBD work together in your dogs body to alleviate symptoms. Canines are sensitive to THC and in high levels it can become toxic. Our treats will never contain more than 0.3% THC, within the Federal legal limit. They will range from 2-5-8- and even 10mg CBD. Our hemp oil is sourced directly from a reputable Arkansas processor, each batch is equipped with a Certificate of Analysis. Visit www.natvana.com to learn more about our hemp oil. Hippie Hounds will invest in clinical trials, including terpene and cannabinoid isolation to keep our research current and personalize our product further. Our product bags are child resistant and each have an easy to use dosage guide based on weight.
As of January 2020, Arkansas medical marijuana patient count exceeds 36,600.
"The natural state believes in the natural solution."
"Hippie Hounds treats could potentially benefit dogs that suffer from seizures, pain, inflammation, cancer, osteoarthritis, and even storm and separation anxiety. Stressful trips to the veterinary clinic or anxious days with the dog sitter while the family is on vacation."
Hippie Hounds LLC hopes to bring natural CBD infused treats to canines around the United States. All brands start local, Andrea hopes to take her training as a Veterinary Cannabis Counselor and educate Veterinary Professionals around the state of Arkansas. Giving educational presentations within veterinary practices opens up the possibility for future vendors as the cannabis laws continue to change. Andrea is also working with Little Rock Norml to draft a bill to allow Veterinarians to recommend the use of hemp products. Third party lab testing will instill confidence in clients during this confusing time in the CBD market. Education is a top priority for Hippie Hounds as we develop a treat dogs, humans, and veterinarians can trust.
"Offering a product that dogs enjoy not only for taste, but also for strength."

2. When will Hippie Hounds launch a website, so I can keep up?
We begin website development in February 2020, you'll see our website up and running by April 2020.
3. Can Hippie Hounds treat or cure diseases?
No. Hippie Hounds makes no drug claims. We conduct our own research and stay current on the research in both Human and Veterinary medicine. We encourage you to conduct your own research on cannabis and how it has helped similar mammals with similar problems.
4. How do I know how many treats to administer to my dog?
Each bag will have an easy-to-use dosage guide based on weight. A QR code will also be available on every bag if you need additional assistance. We recommend starting every dog on a lower dose and slowly increasing your dose until you achieve the desired effect.
5. What is my donation being used for?
Every dollar donated goes directly into the company. We've recently hired a graphic artist who is polishing our logo and designing our packaging. Initial donations will go toward potency testing of initial batches through Steep Hill Laboratories. Following that we will purchase packaging for the first 50 batches of treats. These initial lines will be sent with patient logs, to chart the success of the treats. A double blind clinical study will follow these initial batches.
