Frequently Asked Questions:
- What is Kaur Republic Media Group?
KRMG was created to elevate the voices of the Sikh Punjabi diaspora in the United States. WHile traditional media does a great job of covering our issues, there is simply nothing like community-based news outlets that know the people they cover in addition to their lived experiences. Through KRMG, I aim to tell our story through many mediums such as podcasting, e-commerce, Khareedna [which means buying in Punjabi] our subscription-only business community in the United States and through interviews with political figures.
I also will be breaking into a market that does not account for the disabled community and what sets me apart from my competition is the fact that I will be hiring local sign language interpretation, ensure that we have language justice and translate all our shows from english to punjabi and punjabi to english to ensure that language is not barrier to understanding what is happening in the community.
I am a 25 year old Sikh Punjabi woman who was the first in my family to study political science and graduate from the City University of New York. My passion for politics and business led me to start Kaur Republic in 2020 at the height of the pandemic to help distribute information about what was happening with Sikh Americans as we navigated this crisis. I want to expand my blog and make it a full-fledged media group and hire journalists and commentators who can help me provide a more nuanced view of politics through a community media lens.
Every dollar you contribute towards this campaign will be directly invested in Sikh American women and their journalistic, artistic and political growth. While we won't be endorsing any candidates, we will be hosting live debates, commentary and help breakdown the political world in time for the midterm elections. Sikh Americans are a fast growing population and we should have media sources that report accurate, unbiased and factual information.
