Help Educate US Born Children Living Abroad

Currently, there are 600,000+ American children born to Mexican nationals living in Mexico, alone.  As U.S. immigration policies change, so do the lives of these children.  With little choice but to follow their parents back to Mexico, their schooling and lives are uprooted and transformed, overnight. Many of these children have limited Spanish language skills and almost no knowledge of the new country they are to call home. A large majority of these children are placed in Mexican public schools where they lack the language skills, cultural knowledge, and social-emotional support to successfully complete their studies. Many have gotten lost in the system and  where vulnerable to depression,

It is estimated that a large percentage of these children, upon legal age will rightfully return to the United States and attempt to rebuild their lives. However, they will continue to remain vulnerable and displaced when they return to the U.S. if they do not continue their learning development with the vital academics and civic education while living abroad.

We are seeking resources to support the education of American born children living outside of the U.S. with learning programs and tools aligned to our national educational standards and civic values so that their social, emotional, and learning needs can continually be met. The objective of the project is to ensure that a quality, college-ready education is free, and accessible for all American children living outside of the United States.
