Project Description
Quanna’s Kitchen started when I was 21 years old, I realized my passion for cooking was greater than any passion I ever had. The way food can turn a frown upside down is powerful. That’s why I started Quanna’s Kitchen; I want to feed as many people as I can. I am raising this money in the hopes to buy my first food truck and to continue to support my community.
Quanna’s Kitchen is a home-based catering business that specializes in soul food/ Caribbean cuisine. But we are more than a food business we like to call our kitchen a safe haven. Our sole purpose is to serve our community. 15% of all Quanna’s Kitchen profit goes to our Non-profit Save The Age Rebirth The Soul. (S.T.A.R.S) STARS is an organization founded in Harlem, which aims to give back to the community – locally and citywide.
We will bring awareness to the issues affecting our people. Through education and campaigns, we hope to inform, educate and give hope to the people. We believe that anything is possible with drive, resources, and support.
Thus, we aim to form a united front to create paths toward success and fulfillment for all people. STARS stands for: Save the Age, Rebirth the Soul.
In today’s world, we are all faced with many obstacles and tragedies. Sometimes, the support we need is nowhere to be found – or we do not know how to get it. That is why we believe educating is the first step towards inspiring people to make changes in their lives and communities. For the people, by the people – through this initiative, we hope to make a difference and give a voice to the unheard.

- Who is Chef E? -
My name is Equanna Pearson. I am a poet. I am a lover. I am a believer. I am a chef. As a chef and caterer, I understand the pain hiding behind the smiles of those I serve. For many years, I smiled to hide my sadness. As an adopted child, I longed to meet my biological mother. I was hesitant to trust, unable to form long-term relationships, and unwilling to open my heart to others. I was plagued by the fear that I would be abandoned or misunderstood. My life changed forever in November 2013, the day I met my birth mother for the first time. After hoping and searching for my mother, my prayers were finally answered. Google Plus helped me find my biological aunt, who connected me with my mother.
As I share my story with those I serve, I want them to realize that pain is not the end of the story. Through perseverance and determination, anyone can make their dreams a reality. I want others to see that the smile on my face today comes from real happiness, not from hidden pain. I want to help others smile as they chase their dreams. I want to make a difference in someone else’s life.
