Help Us Stay Afloat
Beehive is seeking funding for sustainability of our business that has been hugely affected by COVID-19. As a very new, family-run business in the Bok building, Beehive depends on visitors each day for drop-in play, membership purchases, birthday party bookings, and class attendance in order to pay our day to day bills. We have also been counting on our summer camp program, which we excitedly rolled out just weeks ago, to help us build up some working capital to maintain our business when we welcome a new baby into our family in just 8 weeks. Obviously, our doors are closed indefinitely as we collectively stay at home to help keep our community safe and healthy and we don’t know how long this will last.
When we opened Beehive in late October, we knew we were opening a space that would be important to the families in East Passyunk and Philadelphia. We have been overjoyed and humbled by the response of our community. We ask you to help us make it through this difficult time so that we can open our doors to the community when it is over.
Who We Are
Beehive: A Community Playspace was founded by Rachel Daulerio with one thing in mind- allowing her family-filled community access to an indoor play space, family support center and education hub. Beehive's mission is to be a place where children and their caregivers can meet-up, play, learn and grow together.
What We Are Doing
Since October, Beehive has operated as an indoor playspace with toys specifically curated to encourage open-ended and imaginative play for a range of ages. An inclusive environment, Beehive reflects the many voices of children and provides opportunities for them to explore, play, and create alongside others in the community. From climbing structures and tumbling mats to cozy nooks and sensory walls, Beehive was designed with the unique needs and interests of babies and young children in mind.
In order to be affordable and accessible to all, Beehive has many options for visitors including memberships, drop-in rates, discounts for Access Card holders, and sibling rates for families with more than one child coming in to play or to take a class. Likewise, Therapeutic Memberships are available for Early Intervention Agencies to allow therapists and their clients to visit and use the space for their appointments. Beehive currently has over 100 member families and agencies and many other customers who frequent the space on a weekly basis.
At Beehive, we are also building a network of local professionals, working together to create programming for the young families we serve. Among our diverse offerings, Beehive has welcomed classes including Mama and Me Workouts, Music Exploration, Family Crafty Hour, Toddler Dance, and Yoga for Children.
In an effort to engage and support new parents, Beehive, in collaboration with V-Health and Wellness, is hosting a New Parents Meet-Up and Education series, an 8 session series featuring experts in postpartum health, infant sleep, sex and intimacy after birth, chest/ breast and bottle feeding, and postpartum anxiety and depression. Many parent and child meet-ups are also in the works, designed to create hyper-local groups of families for support and fun.
Beehive appreciates your interest, support and contributions to our community!
