- What is the mission? Haji Healing Salon exists to inspire and support the creation of a healing lifestyle. We believe each person given the tools, space and guidance to begin addressing pain and trauma in their lives, contributes to an over-arching landscape of peace. One healing person at a time, families, neighborhoods, communities and cities are transformed.
- "To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering." -Friedrich Nietzsche To THRIVE is to make a practice of self-study and attain mastery over one's ability to turn the suffering of life (poison) into medicine that heals self and others. While suffering is certainly inevitable, social, economic and racial inequality and systemic oppression increase the probability of suffering exponentially for people of color in the United States. Haji Healing Salon aims to make life-enhancing, healing practices like yoga/meditation, reiki energy healing, community acupuncture, plant medicine and mental wellness, affordable and accessible where it is needed most.
- What is your company/product about and how does it solve the problem? Haji Healing Salon offers a variety of online Healing Lifestyle classes and in-salon healing services for it's diverse membership base and broader community. The membership model makes access to spiritual exploration through ritual and meditation, yoga therapy and mental wellness support affordable and attainable from anywhere in the world. The community healing model (employed for yoga, relaxation, acupuncture and reiki healing), means we share the space to lower the cost and create greater access for more people. Community healing means "we heal together" so families, friends, partners and neighbors support each other and all benefit from the nexus of healing energy generated by the collective. Further, community healing begins to address and heal the idea that our pain and trauma is a source of shame and that we must do everything alone for it to have value.
- Why are you seeking funding and how will you spend the funding? Funding will allow me to test some of the most innovative ideas I have about how to engage folks in deeper aspects of healing and create generative partnerships to this end. Haji Healing Salon seeks to expand by building healing salons in under-resourced communities across the country.
- Who are your partners? I am partnered with architectural and design firm Borderless Studio, Mental Wellness Practitioner: Grounded Wellness, Plant Medicine Partner: Ashé Living, Spiritual Partner: SIstaShamon, Organic Herb Distributor Brigel Enterprises. Haji Healing Salon is powered by local teachers, healers, mystics and magical beings who are each deeply invested in the healing of their communities.
