Project Description

Who we are

We are seeking support for the Goat House Gym, a visionary project that aims to create a community-driven and welcoming fitness space for all ages and abilities. With your help, we hope to soon serve people of all generations and cater to diverse styles of movement. The Goat House will feature a functional training area, bouldering wall, heavy bags, and fitness studio that will house specialized classes such as yoga, pilates, dance, and so much more.

Our aim is to inspire and empower individuals to cultivate healthy habits and strong bodies, allowing them to fully enjoy the wild and expansive outdoor spaces we are so lucky to have access to. We hope the Goat House will be a community hub. A place to engage in physical activity together; fostering strength, flexibility, creativity, power, and confidence in each one of our members.

Why we're doing this

Our community is in need of a fitness space that caters to all ages and fitness levels, and we are taking action to fill that void. Despite the abundance of natural beauty that surrounds us, the lack of accessible fitness options is a real problem. With your support, we are creating the first and only fitness hub in the 106 mile stretch from Anaconda to Missoula. Our facility will offer diverse classes, top-of-the-line equipment, healthy food options, and children's dance and fitness classes - all under one roof. Help us bring this much-needed resource to our community and improve the health and well-being of everyone in our rural Montana community.

Creating New Opportunities for Career Advancement

An important part of our mission also concerns creating more opportunities for the many health and wellness professionals in this community to advance their careers and reach a wider clientele. By providing a centralized hub, we believe we can create a new opportunity for career advancement and inspire young people to pursue a career in a rapidly growing industry.

In 2021, the global market for health and wellness was valued at $4.7 trillion. According to projections, this market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate  of 10.9% from 2022 to 2031, reaching a value of $12.9 trillion by the end of that period. Addressing Mental Health Needs

Montana ranks third in the country for suicide rates per capita. It's clear that the need for healthy spaces for people to engage in community and feel a sense of belonging is especially urgent in rural areas of the state.

We believe that creating a welcoming and inclusive space for exercise and community engagement can make a positive impact on the mental health epidemic in Montana. While we recognize that this is a complex issue that cannot be solved alone, we can’t ignore our part in supporting individuals who may be at risk.

Research has shown that exercise has many benefits for mental health, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, and enhancing cognitive function. By sharing this knowledge and creating opportunities for physical activity and community engagement, we hope to empower individuals and build a stronger, happier, and more supportive community.

Who are we serving?

At the Goat House, we believe that every member of our community deserves a space where they can feel welcomed, listened to, and empowered. This includes:

  • Children - Through our ‘kids’ programming, we aim to provide a range of classes that introduce children to new passions and inspire them to cultivate healthy habits from an early age.
  • Teenagers - Our space will offer Philipsburg's teenagers a nurturing environment to develop essential self-care habits, including strength training and access to nutrition information. Our programs will complement high school sports, and we will also provide opportunities for creative expression through dance. Our goal is to empower adolescents with the tools and resources they need to prioritize their physical and mental health.
  • Young adults, empty-nesters, and everyone in between - We understand the importance of social connections, especially for those in their 20s to 50s who may be looking to meet new people with similar interests. Our gym provides a community-driven atmosphere where individuals can come together through movement, and find support and encouragement to achieve their fitness goals.
  • Parents: Parents will be able to enroll their kids in one of our many programs and have uninterrupted access to our top of the line equipment, getting a well deserved hour to prioritize their own health and well-being.
  • Older Generations: Functional fitness, which emphasizes movements that promote strength, flexibility, and mobility, can be particularly beneficial for older adults. These types of exercises can help improve balance, reduce the risk of falls, and increase overall strength and mobility for longevity.

What we’re doing

At the Goat House, we’ll have something to offer people of all ages. Our class staples will include boxing, functional strength training, weight lifting, pilates, and yoga. We will also offer personalized services like personal training and nutrition coaching to help our members achieve their wellness goals.

For children and teens, we will have exciting programs like dance, sports agility, and monthly specialty programs that will introduce new passions and inspire healthy habits. We plan to offer karate, tae kwon do, tumbling, and cheerleading to keep our young members engaged and motivated.

Our open gym area will be equipped with free weights, squat racks, strength training machines, cardio equipment, indoor turf for push sleds and agility training, and assault trainers to help our members build strength and endurance.

In addition to classes and gym equipment, we will organize lively community events like line dancing, swing dancing, self-defense, and informative wellness courses. Our goal is to create a welcoming space for everyone in the community to come together and thrive.

Why are you called the Goat House Gym?

The Goat House takes inspiration from two magnificent mountains in our locality: West Goat and East Goat. Our gym facility represents West Goat, the highest peak in the Anaconda Pintler mountain range, while East Goat, located adjacent to West Goat, is the name of our fitness studio. By using these names, we not only celebrate the beauty of our region but also motivate our members to strive for excellence.

Our goal at the Goat House is to create a supportive and empowering environment where individuals can build strength, increase their fitness level, and unleash their full potential. Whether you prefer to take a yoga class at East Goat or lift weights at West Goat, we're committed to helping you achieve your fitness goals and become the Greatest Of All Time.

What makes the Goat House special?

Helping people excel in all areas of their lives with intentional movement practice. Besides a fitness facility, we want the GOAT House to be a safe place for members of our community to connect and build social networks. Our motto is ‘By the Community, For the Community’. We take your feedback seriously and will do everything we can to create a space that serves everyone.

These past few years have been especially stressful and isolating. It’s so important to find community and to focus on well-being. Exercise is proven to reduce stress, build confidence, improve sleep, and release endorphins. Besides all the physical benefits, we love working out because it makes us happier.
