At Girltelligence, we are passionate about empowering teen girls and young women so they can boost their mental health, build their confidence, and fulfill their potential.
Growing up as a girl and entering adulthood as a woman is wonderful, but also comes with many questions and challenges. Numerous studies have shown that having a supportive community, whether it is online or offline, is very effective in improving wellbeing, mental health, and success, especially in young women. However, young women today rarely have a supportive, non-judgmental environment where they can be their authentic selves and get support and advice from peers.
The Girltelligence appWith Girltelligence, we created the app that we wish we had growing up. It’s a place where self-identifying girls can be their authentic selves and have countless opportunities to have real conversations, support each other, and access reliable information.
We use two powerful ways to empower young women:
- A supportive community. The Girltelligence app is a safe and accepting space for teen girls and young women where they can have conversations, ask and answer questions, build communities, get support from and share their experiences with peers, and empower each other – anonymously, or not. The conversations are customized by age so people only see conversations that are appropriate for them.
- An innovative educational component that shares actionable information to help girls and young women thrive.
The Girltelligence community is kept safe and supportive with proprietary AI developed by us that is designed specifically to protect girls and women.
Girltelligence was founded by Naama Barnea-Goraly MD, a child and adolescent psychiatrist and former Stanford brain researcher who has worked extensively with children and adolescents with mental health disorders and published numerous studies on the neuroscience of social cognition. Our team also includes an intern, Hayley Yu, a clinical psychology graduate student at University of Michigan, and an advisory board of amazing high-school and college young women across the world who are active participants and advisors on every step of development. You can meet some of them in the video above!
