Gently Soap: Soap for Sensitive Skin
Help us to take making soap for sensitive skin to the next level.
Project Description
Herbal Greetings! My name is Kristen Dunning and I am 21 years old. I know that having sensitive skin is like playing russian roulette in drugstore aisles.
The National Institute of Health reports that 70% of women and 60% of men report having sensitive skin. Additionally, 50% of those who reported experience extremely uncomfortable symptoms. The truth is that though having sensitive skin is more common than not, and finding a product that caters to that need is rare.
Growing up, I would react to anything with fragrance: soap, haircare, laundry detergent, cleaning products, etc. Even items labeled as natural and only used essential oils would break out my skin in hives and welts. I dealt with it all: burning, peeling, itching, breakouts, flare-ups, you name it. It was painful, emotionally and physically, and this pain pushed me to search for something better.
In October 2020, after years in college research, I founded Gently. Gently Soap offers fragrance-free, essential oil free soap that gently cleanses and cares for sensitive skin. Since our opening one year ago, Gently has acquired over 40,000 dollars in revenue, is being sold in 15 stores nationwide, and has shipped over 1000 orders to 27 states.
My dream for Gently is grand. I dream of seeing my product stocked on the shelves of dream stores like Target and CVS by 2025.
To accomplish this, I am trying to raise a total of $20,000 through crowdfunding (1/5 of my $100K fundraising goal) in order to finance manufacturing equipment, a rental workshop, ingredients, labor, custom printed soap boxes, and a co-manufacturing contract to prepare for mass retail readiness.
Please help me continue my journey of creating a brand that is gentle on the skin and gentle on the planet. Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is crowdfunding?
Wikipedia defines "crowdfunding" as "the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, typically via the internet." It’s not hugely different from traditional fundraising, but it has taken off as people have become more used to online financial transactions, and websites have made it easier for creators to share their projects with potential donors. Donors on most crowdfunding platforms aren’t buying a share of your project, like stock, they are making a donation to support your passion and idea, and be involved in your project.
If you donate $500.00 or more you will receive all 4 of our bar soaps, and our Herbal Whipped Body Butter.
I cannot express how thankful I would be to receive any amount. Thank you for supporting my dream.
