Gaia's Loft (Succulent and Bonsai shop)
Succulent and bonsai plant shop that offers classes to build terrariums, kokedama bonsais.
Project Description
Gaia's Loft Mission Statement:
Gaia's Loft seeks to give their customers peace and joy. To give a person the chance to become creative and add a personal touch to their terrarium. To look around the shop and find that one plant they can not live without. A dog is man's best friend, but a plant is every person's best friend.
Gaia's Loft is turning to you, and everyone on ifundwomen, to help us get off the ground safely. Most start-up businesses do not succeed, I want to succeed and grow. I have plans to expand the shop even further.
I am looking for enough money to start my business during the first rocky months, till it can become stable and reliable.
Klamath Falls is a little more than 21,000 people. More than that, my shop would be a place to come to for visiting families or new families that pop in or customers who are addicted to building terrariums and buying succulents.
There are not many chances in Klamath falls for people to build and create something that lasts. Shops that do succeed here are shops that people can come to and leave with something they created. Next of Kiln is one of those example shop's here in Klamath Falls. Next of Kiln is a ceramic painting shop that has been around since before I was born.
Personal story:
My family moved to Klamath Falls when I was 5 and left when I turned 6. I do not remember much about living here that first time around, but I remember going there with my mom and painting a sunflower spoon holder for the stove.
If I can raise 40,000 dollars, I will divide my funds up to use over the next twelve months. I need to account for the start-up of a business. I need to acquire the appropriate licenses, I need to buy supplies, I need to make sure I can support my family till my shop is making profits.
Supplies would include
plants bought from mountaincrestgardens.com/
Sun gems as well as other gems from a local business in town.
Organic soil for succulents and quality sand for terrariums
Unique finds from thrift stores in the area to add to terrariums - an example of a special I would do is, find good quality Doctor Seuss books and save them for Doctor Seuss week, then any kid (12 and under) that comes and builds a terrarium will get a free Doctor Seuss book to take home and read to the plant-
I want to support local businesses as well.
I would be able to start videos of plant care for customers and with their permissions have a few repeat customers become special guests.
If Gaia's Loft grows, I can start going online and selling terrarium building kits to customers. My final goal would be to own my storefront.
My team is you and me and ifundwomen. Also the support of my soon to be husband and family. If I became stable enough to support and family and a coworker, I have a friend who would be able to join me who is quite capable of making social connections.
I thank you for your time and for reading this lengthy campaign pitch. It would mean the world to me if you donated! In whatever position you are in, I hope you feel inspired to go get a plant for yourself at the very least. Best wishes for you!
