Fit4Dance is dedicated to bringing quality and affordable dance and fitness instruction to women and children in Brooklyn. We offer a comfortable space where women can have fun, learn to dance, improve their fitness and health, meet new people, explore other cultures, and freely express themselves. Laci established Fit4Dance to inspire and motivate women to take control of their health and have a blast doing it!
Laci decided to open her business in Crown Heights for three reasons. The first reason is to encourage African-American women and children to take charge of their health through exercise. The second is to unify varied groups of people through the common love of dance as the community diversifies. The third and debatably most essential reason is to provide a safe haven for children to have fun, be active, and express themselves in a loving, welcoming environment.
Fit4Dance will continue to have a measurable impact on women and children in Brooklyn. We will help women meet their fitness goals while also helping them relieve stress and gain a more positive outlook on life. We aim to establish quality children's dance programs that will increase children's flexibility, physical strength, and stamina while also improving their social and communication skills, By offering dance fitness classes in a caring, supportive atmosphere, the community will begin to look at fitness as a pleasant and consistent part of their lifestyle.
FIt4Dance is seeking funding to support us during these unprecedented times. Our studio was forced to close on March 16th and unfortunately still do not have a date in which we will be able to return. Dance and Fitness studios were removed from all of the Phases in the Reopening Plan for New York City and although gyms have been allowed to reopen, indoor fitness classes are still prohibited. Because of the uncertainty of COVID-19, we are unsure when we will be able to return to our beautiful studio which many have named a community staple. We are fortunate for our ability to pivot and adapt to an online platform within days of our closing and have been able to offer many of our classes online; but unfortunately not all of them. Although our virtual classes are doing well and still making an impact, we are unable to sustain all of the costs associated with the business with this being our only source of revenue. Funding will not only support the day-to-day expenses such as rent, teacher salaries, bills, insurance, and other fees associated with the business. In addition, adjusting to an online platform and planning for the future to ensure sustainability also costs.
We have an incredible group of instructors and supporters that are dedicated to the mission of Fit4Dance and want to see the community flourish. Our Founder & CEO Laci Chisholm was recently awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by the SBA for 2020. We are a certified BCorp. We've received numerous awards and accolades for our leadership and work in the community and plan to continue this work virtually and hopefully in person again soon. We appreciate you for donating to our organization and ensuring that we are able to withstand the storm. Things may look different for us in the coming months and years, but we are ready to do whatever it takes to survive.
