Introducing a revolutionary home-sharing service by women for women

^{Femmebnb is a social marketplace that offers home-sharing services by women for women through a curated list of spaces. The service offers short-term property rentals offered by women around the world in hopes of maximizing safety and comfort. In addition to home-sharing, the platform is designed for women to connect with other women around the world through HerCommunity. It welcomes women of all ages and backgrounds who are looking to enhance their travel experiences whether in a group or on their own.}

How we started

_{Femmebnb founded by Yaa Birago and Diana Obeng in Toronto, Canada. The idea was birthed when Yaa embarked on a solo trip to Europe in the spring of 2017. Yearning to explore the world she decided to travel alone to three beautiful destinations in Europe: Paris, Rome and Barcelona. In Rome she got lost looking for her Airbnb as a result of inaccurate directions from her host. Later, walking down the street of the apartment, she experienced street harassment in front of the apartment making her feel extremely uneasy about spending the night there. After voicing out her concerns to the host, he said to her "this happens all the time, you will be fine".}

_{She felt extremely unsafe and uncomfortable to walk back to the apartment and as a result, the host got her another apartment that he thought would be "safer”. It was at this moment when she thought of how different it might have been if her host had been a woman. She thought, “perhaps she would have offered to meet me at the main street or been much more attentive when giving directions or meet up with me at the metro station”. A woman might have been more empathetic. That is when she thought of creating a service where women can feel comfortable and secure combined with a network that can support women in their travel endeavors.}

Why Femmebnb? 

_{In developing Femmebnb, we had conversations and surveyed 186 women, and we discovered that many women have faced uncomfortable situations, harassment, and microaggression when they traveled solo or as a group.}

Our team

_{We are a team of 7 passionate individuals both women and men, between the ages of 23 and 35, coming from different backgrounds and different parts of the world, who want to build a strong international social network for women on the move just like us! Our experiences range from software development, travel experts, systems analyst, business analyst, digital marketers, business developers, sales, and brand marketing.}

What we have achieved so far

• _{Since we embarked on this project, over 800 women have joined our waitlist from over 60 different countries and it continues to grow.}

• _{Over 9000 followers across social media platforms}

• _{More than 15 Ambassadors in more than 15 cities in North America and Europe} 

• _{Alpha launch for our web application}

What we want to do next

_{Although our current plan is to complete the MVP for the mobile responsive of the web application, we want to take the experience a step further and create native apps (IOS and Android).}

_{The money we raise will be used to complete and deliver the MVP for our web application and enable us to put our product into the market. Our hope is to raise more funds to help us start the development of our mobile apps.}
