Felt aims to provide FREE education to women who are traditionally excluded from class, due to cultural norms, status, or finances. To this end, we teach English, Literacy, Wellness, Citizenship, and job preparation among other classes.
The pandemic has affected the immigrant community and has meant that students and their families are struggling with screen time/connections, as well as falling behind due to work and economic situations.
Felt has taken all of our classes online, Which meant organizing tablets, digital platforms, etc for our students and teachers. It also widened our student body, and we now teach students in 4 different countries (the US, and three Refugee camps in Europe), as well as in ten states.
Team Felt is made up of volunteer educations who work full-time jobs in ESL, Higher Ed, or Grade School, who are dedicated to giving extra hours to those in need. They are all first or second-generation immigrants and all women.
Felt is seeking donations in order to enhance the learning we can provide. We would like to be able to lend students tablets or buy them learning devices, send them books, and to provide a one-stop education platform for those who cannot access this important part of the American dream.
While we cannot offer anything other than thanks for our backers, we really want to be able to show that your donation changes lives. Every student that comes through our program leaves with contacts, friends, and a certificate of learning that she can use in employment. We also encourage our students to help us create the programs they need. In the four years we have been operating, we have graduated over 200 literacy students and ESL students. With the right funding, this number could reach much, much higher. So thank you for reading this, and thank you for backing Felt.
