Frequently Asked Questions:
Why did you start Face It Today? I have always known that I wanted to help motivate, inspire and empower girls to believe they can do anything they choose to do in life. I wasn’t sure exactly which form it would take, but I knew it would happen eventually. Personally, I have overcome adversity in my own life, and believe with every fiber of who I am, that WE can Face anything head on and come out on the other side even better than before. Life gets hard, and unfortunately it starts pretty darn young once social interaction begins, etc. We just need someone to believe in us. I envision that someone to be Face It Today. While this is a serious issue, building and inspiring self-esteem should also be fun.
How did you come up with the name Face It Today? Face It Today isn’t just about skin care, Face It Today means facing anything you are confronted with on a daily basis, and letting your best face shine through while doing it!
I believe self-care is paramount, and Face It Today teaches girls a very simple and playful way of taking care of their skin. I want them to feel good, so that what is on the inside, shines through on the outside.
What is your target demographic? Girls 13-23. We will eventually have brand extensions that will serve both ends of this demographic, skewing younger and older.
Is Face It Today a non-profit? No, Face It Today is not currently under a 501(c)(3). However, we have lots of ideas brewing, and certainly foresee non-profit extensions.
Why are you crowdfunding? I didn’t know much about crowdfunding, and certainly would have NEVER thought to ask people for money. I thought I would fund Face It Today on my own, and set out to do just that. As I was progressing forward, I had a consult with an attorney who told me that I needed much more than I had anticipated in order to launch my venture, and to launch it properly. This was WAY more than I had ever imagined, and he strongly urged me to get funding ASAP. In comes ifundwomen. I heard Karen Cahn speaking about her company, ifundwomen on the The Covey Cast, a podcast I had just started listening to. Ifundwomen resonated with me by supporting female led companies and I hopped on board! What I have learned is that I am so passionate about Face It Today that I want people to support it, to support me and get behind this powerful and much needed mission. I invite everyone to walk this journey with me in support of all our girls, now and for their future! My thoughts on crowdfunding have completely changed.
The money we raise is going towards: Legal fees, additional product development, branded curriculum, accounting services, packaging, web development, software development, content development, staffing, etc, etc, etc, etc.
Who did your campaign video? We worked with an amazing professional, Kyle Johnson (KJ) whose passion lies in helping others uncover and tell their story. Why did you choose the products you did? We wanted a simple, natural skin care routine for girls to start learning how to take care of their skin. Wash their face in the morning and apply SPF/moisturizer on every day (see stats in our campaign page). That’s it! Same at night; wash and moisturize. We will also have some products specifically for girls with acne prone skin. After many months of trials, we landed on the perfect products to best serve our mission and our girls!
Are the products organic? Each product in our line is formulated from botanicals (plant-based) and botanical extracts and are as natural as you can get while still having a shelf life.
Have the products been tested on animals? No way! You will see the no cruelty to animals symbol on all our products!
Are the products FDA approved? The FDA must approve products that they consider “drug products”. The only product we have in our line that falls under this category is, our Face the Day, Paraben Free SPF 30, and it is FDA approved.
Are the products made in the USA? 100% USA
Can boys use your product? YES! As a matter of fact, we have ideas brewing for boys specifically.
What is the cost of becoming a brand leader? Face It Today will launch with approximately (10) Brand Leaders in a roll out fashion. There is an application process to be a brand leader, followed by a fun curriculum in order to learn important business building and entrepreneurial skills. There will be no fee for our founding girls. As we move forward, we envision there being a small fee for the FIT starter kit.
What are the profit margins in building a FIT skin care business? We are working on the best possible business model with our accountant. Stay tuned.
What is the expected time commitment of a brand leader? Like any business, what you put into it, you get out of it. The time commitment will be different for everyone. We will have ongoing meetings, training, etc to find what works best.
What kind of training is available once you become a brand leader? We are currently fleshing out our FIT curriculum that will embody approximately (3) sessions to build a business plan before selling. As a brand leader, you will get a welcome kit that includes your own line for your personal use, samples for you to share, product information and simple beginning steps in starting your FIT business. As far as ongoing training, we will have company meetings, additional session rollouts, and access to a FIT Brand Coach for any questions and or needs. What if I don’t feel comfortable selling? Our products and mission are great on their own, enjoy as a consumer by getting to know one of our amazing brand leaders. You can order directly from them OR let us to teach you ways to work a business that might work best for you. Everyone will be successful using different tools, tactics and embracing your own unique talents and skills.
If I am a Brand Leader for FIT, can I be a BL for another brand? Typically we find that people are multi-passionate and we welcome that. Our mission is unique and if you are selected to be a brand leader for FIT, we would urge you not to do the same for another skin care brand. It will dilute your credibility with people you are sharing your passion with and selling to.
How long is the commitment if I am selected to be a brand leader? As long as it works for your life style, makes it better, makes you happy, helps you grow, and feel empowered.
What will the role of the parents be? To believe in the FIT brand mission and support self-care and empowerment of girls.
Is this national or only in California? National
Do the products have to be purchased from a brand leader or can they be purchased separately online? Currently all products need to be purchased from one of our FIT Brand Leaders.
What makes you different from other companies? Being a Face It Today brand leader is a coveted role with girls who embody the FIT brand. There is an application process and a curriculum in building a business plan before any selling begins. We are helping girls learn entrepreneurial skills and how to build a business based on empowering others! We of course, REALLY want brand leaders to be empowered by earning their own money and to be successful while supporting a fantastic mission. FIT is a modern business model, and we only want our brand leaders ordering products once they make a sale, we do not want them holding inventory until they hit a certain revenue threshold that we will work with them on. This is about learning skills not about spending $ and going into debt. We need to inspire girls to grow, learn, and build so that you can truly be empowered.
