Entrepreneur eLearning for At-Risk Youth

With more than a decade of strategic planning experience, along with community outreach, the mission of Dream North Entertainment is to minimize the occurrence of such unfortunate events from taking place and to advance social and economic equity in under-resourced communities as we are focused on underprivileged youth and minority demographics. By promoting the advancement of minority individuals and communities, we emphasize the importance of bridging cultural gaps through collaboration and utilizing entrepreneurial development and artistic expression as an alternative outlet.

WHAT WE OFFER: Dream North Entertainment will offer a free online, entrepreneurial workshop to youth exposed to gangs, foster care and the judicial system within Los Angeles County 

• Session A- ages 12-15
• Session B- ages 16-21 

By offering entrepreneurial tools and resources, we project the following:

ONBOARDING & EXPECTATIONS

1. We will assess each participant’s (100%) performance in school and within the community. They will receive mentorship prior and throughout the duration of the program to ensure maximized performance and outcomes. 

2. Each participant will create a vision board, resume, cover letter, electronic press kit (EPK) including a promo video trailer, business plan summary, and personal and business budget. The younger age groups will do more creative writing projects. 

3. All remaining participants will research several businesses to present their electronic press kit and/or submit job application. The younger age groups will present to their school and community. This will enable them to gain competitive positive guidance to recognize their skills and talents in entrepreneurship and the workforce.

PERFORMANCE & PROJECT OUTCOMES

1. Of the 100-200 anticipated participants to complete the program, we anticipate that all (100%) will improve academically and within their everyday social/economic lives. 

2. Participants will matriculate to graduation (or their respective next level) through our virtual tutorial program with success-driven and tested tools/protocols to ensure they begin asking themselves the important questions about their future. 

3. Of the 100-200 participants in our 2021 and 2022 sessions, we anticipate 83-166 or approximately 83%+ will complete the program. 

With exposure to professional business owners, and local politicians and celebrities, the attendees of these sessions will obtain a wealth of knowledge and a better sense of self. These workshops shall be engaging, educational and fulfilling, and most importantly geared towards efforts to self-preserve and obtain tools needed to pursue career opportunities or entrepreneurship. We intend to expand our reach to onsite services once we have surpassed all COVID concerns. 

WHO OUR TARGETED AUDIENCE IS: Ages 12 to 21 are the intended targeted market audience for these entrepreneurial programs and incentives. We hope to register approximately 100-200 participants per year. Children exposed to poverty and single-parent homes are most often surrounded by violence, drugs, and illegal activities, and are more likely experience the following unfortunate events that we seek to minimize occurrences:

1. Face increased risk of academic failure
2. Join gang-related activities
3. Become a teen parent
4. Possess illegal weapons and drugs
5. Be susceptible to symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), heightening the risks of suicidal ideation
6. Commit a violent crime.

WHAT FUNDING DO WE SEEK:  $20,000 ($100-200 per participant) helps this woman-owned business offer inspirational books & entrepreneur development programs to at-risk youth.  The proceeds help gain access to: 

• Marketing Visuals & Advertisements
• Program Instructors and Grant Writer
• Business Suits & Shoes
• Workbooks, Supplies & Other Essentials
• Software and Program Hosting Platform
• Commencement Ceremony Incentives such as gift certificates, letters of recommendation, influential figure sponsorships, program completion certificates, and more. 
• “Forgotten Baby” children's book series Development Costs (Illustrator, Publisher)

ABOUT DREAM NORTH ENTERTAINMENT: Dream North Entertainment (DNE) Founder, Nychol Lyna Woods, established a woman-led project strategy consulting business in 2014, establishing DBA in 2016, along with Juggalot Company LLC (providing jobs to the formerly incarcerated) in 2019. She has been focused on a mission to educate, elevate, encourage, and empower youth and women of color in underserved communities throughout Los Angeles County (and the nation). Nychol Lyna Woods possesses an extensive background, having worked in the educational system (LACOE, Head Start, and LAUSD) and through Dream North Entertainment Nychol has made an invaluable impact on the non-profit sectors (serving as an administrator for Arts in Action Charter School, Little Voices and FAMLI Inc.), as well as producing inspirational literary works, such as “Forgotten Baby” (release Fall 2020 through Newman Springs Publishing) following a young girl growing up without her biological parents, which further reiterate focuses to bring awareness to foster youth. With having the opportunity to work with renowned figures, such as the late TV Personality Felicia “Auntie Fee” O’Dell, Comedian J. Anthony Brown, Former NFL Player Courtney Jackson, TrapKitchen, and Community Activist Rizza Islam, and being able to travel throughout the USA, Europe, Mexico, and Jamaica, Nychol Lyna has been able to instill originality and extensive expertise, enabling her company’s engagement to bring the entrepreneurial vision of others  from a dream to a viable, impactful positive reality. Our efforts have been recognized by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Former Senator Kamala Harris, Congresswoman Karen Bass, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Rabbi Sharon Brous (Founder of IKAR).
