The EMPOWERed Voice Traveling Exhibit.
Survivors have been silenced by their assailants, their families, even their communities. They often feel completely disempowered and have no self-confidence. It's time to change that!
The exhibit is created by and for sexual assault survivors and helps to raise awareness and funds so survivors can travel with the exhibit as desired.
The exhibit depicts survivors recovery through art, movement, music, and verbal expression. Each woman provides an interpretation of her own personal healing journey. The exhibit also empowers women to experience self-confidence and inner power.
Hi I'm Claire O'Leary, founder of The EMPOWERed Voice Traveling Exhibit. I empower women sexual assault survivors to experience self confidence, inner power and an empowered voice.
As a survivor myself, I find most of us feel unseen and unheard. We have no voice.
The EMPOWERed Voice Traveling Exhibit is an opportunity for survivors to share their voice, be seen, and be heard – a healing experience for both artist and viewer.
It's a chance for the public to be informed about the devastating effects of sexual assault and consider new solutions. An opportunity to take action to transform our culture into one of knowledge and compassion. Perhaps even to gain the conviction to become advocates of survivors.
To prepare for each exhibit, I host a series of workshops for participants to carry out the processes of healing and expression. I'm currently offering those by donation to make this as far reaching as possible.
We launched the first exhibit and symposium on April 6th & 7th, 2019. It was amazingly powerful with spontaneous sharing and song by 3 women. I'm so excited!
We're taking the exhibit on the road!

Claire O'leary, Founder, The EMPOWERed Voice Traveling Exhibit
Claire is a childhood sexual assault survivor who empowers others through her peer led EMPOWER™ Technique and From Wounds to Wisdom mentoring. Founder of The Empowered VOICE traveling exhibit, Claire empowers the voice of survivors through expressive arts and speaking.
For 5 years, she's led workshops and worked with individuals to guide them through blocks, helping them identify, release and reframe their trauma to regain self confidence, inner power and empower their voice.
As a peer, Claire has a deep understanding of the ongoing effects from sexual assault and creates a safe environment for other survivors to feel comfortable and express themselves freely. As an energy practitioner, she helps release the pent up energy blocked from the years of silence and stuffing things down. As an artist, she has the skills and creativity to guide survivors through the process of creating their artwork. She has facilitated many workshops and private sessions helping survivors identify, release, and reframe their trauma so they have more inner power and feel more self-confident to express themselves easily.
Shannon Jones, Movement Coordinator
Shannon's passion for the healing and expressive arts began in childhood when she spontaneously brought a newborn kitten back to life through healing touch. Her love for nature connection and dance were driving forces that fostered balance and self-confidence during a rocky childhood.
Her passion for multi-generational connection through healing and expressive arts led her to the Tamalpa Institute, where she holds a level I certification for expressive arts therapy. Shannon continues therapeutic education through spirituality, professional studies, personal exploration, healing and expressive arts, nature connection and family life.
Shannon is the founder of Sacred Heart Healing Arts and offers private and group movement classes and retreats, massage, creative arts sharing circles and holistic lifestyle coaching for depression and anxiety.
She is an active performer and member of Co-Motion Dance Company in Carbondale and also offers therapeutic dance performances for various events. Shannon recognizes the practices of movement, creative arts and voice as potent tools in healing trauma and promoting release, change and growth.
Her intention is to hold a safe and loving container for her community to experience self-connection and new found awareness. Shannon believes that the rainbow of emotions must be experienced so that authentic creativity can flourish and sustainable healing and change will be accomplished.
Thanks so much for your support in helping The EMPOWERed Voice grow into a successful exhibit – allowing survivors to finally be seen and heard.
