51 MILLION KIDS ATTEND PUBLIC SCHOOL IN AMERICA. MANY NEED TO BE BETTER EQUIPPED FOR JOBS OF THE FUTURE.
WE WILL START BY REACHING 2,000 KIDS IN DETROIT... USING DRONES
In the new year, DRONES 4 GIRLS will introduce kids and teachers to mini drones through classroom demonstrations. This may be an opportunity for many boys and girls to see an aerial drone for the first time. We will talk about the many career paths and industries that employ drones now-- farming, insurance, rescue, construction, wildlife research, etc.
January 2019, DRONES 4 GIRLS will host a one-day bootcamp to equip high schoolers and women professionals to be volunteer leaders for younger learners. That education will help them decide if they want to sit for the Federal Aviation Administration's Part 107 exam to get a license to fly an unmanned aviation vehicle ($150).
February 2019, DRONES 4 GIRLS will show up to 80 teachers how to fly a mini drone and plug real world applications into the curriculum for whichever class they lead. We believe that's a sustainable way to spread excitement about math and physics, for years to come.
April 2019, DRONES 4 GIRLS will host a FREE four-hour event for girls attending grade 4 or 5 at a public school in Detroit. We will extend five invitations at four schools. Each invitee is encouraged to bring one friend-- same grade, any school. All 40 girls will learn to build, code and fly mini drones.
Massive "Thank you!" to Detroit Hives, Lo & Behold! and Excel RC for gifts they supplied. We appreciate you!
