Project Description

This campaign has been made to carry our brand's platform and mission amid the COVID-19 outbreak and thereafter.

The Diaz Collections is an LLC founded by Doriana Diaz in 2020 to be a source of natural embrace for Black creative women/femmes to decolonize their artistic wellness practices in community and sisterhood. You can learn more about our curations on our website.

The Diaz Collections, LLC values the knowledge of the methods, techniques, and procedures involved in the interpretation and exhibition of art for a diverse audience. The Diaz Collections operates to uplift and support the art created by black and brown communities. The vision is to collaborate on curations with fellow black artists to uphold the legacy of our ancestors, to cultivate a network for one another’s creations to succeed, and to continue to provide healthy and dynamic spaces for our community to rely on. Through using empowering images of self as a primary subject matter in my own artworks and curations. The Diaz Collections hopes to encourage and empower others to speak their own narratives into existence. In ventures concerning curation, our philosophy is to depict Black women/femmes as diverse and complex individuals. We strive to build community with others who are committed to a similar philosophy. There is a long tradition of Black women who have used arts to express self-definition. We want to continue to expand upon that legacy and hold space to celebrate their memory.

Over the past year, we have successfully provided an intersection between Black femme artists and wellness practitioners within Philadelphia across the entire and African diaspora at large to explore and expand their crafts alongside one another in tenderness and harmony. We have curated connections in Brazil, London, Holland, and many others. We have curated exhibitions, panels, and workshops for Black artists to display their works and cultivate collaboration. We co-curated a virtual day-long retreat, and lead a month-long IG LIVE series for Juneteenth uplifting Black femme artists and their personal journeys to freedom. We have recently created a podcast entitled Who Made You Sis, holding space within spiritual dialogue alongside various Black women storytellers, artists, and healers, which can be found on Apple Podcasts here.

Our community seeks to provide spaces for Black femme creatives to express their authentic selves in an authentic community created for us and by us. Nina Simone said, "it's an artist's duty to reflect the times in which we live". We solely engage in projects that seek to provide Black women/femmes with financial support and sustainability for their time and effort used to curate alongside us. The funds for this campaign will ONLY  help to bring our projects/collaborations into fruition, they will not be used to financially sustain Doriana.

How can you help further our initiative?

Please donate whatever you can, every little bit propels our growth. Black people deserve to be compensated for their endless contributions to our liberation. Liberation is a gradual process, one that must be tackled with great appreciation for Black existence, innovation, and brilliance.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this with someone(s) who can. These funds will be used ONLY  for the following:

1. Compensation for our team

2. Expanding our international resources and growth

3. Compensation for all our podcast guests 4. Funding for our upcoming film festival with Jalloh Studios (@jallohstudios) - August 2021 in Detroit MI

5. Funding for our upcoming Black women wellness retreat with The Ayaba Series (@theayabaseries) - March 2021 in Chicago IL

6. Funding to assist the publication of our upcoming Philly greenbook/ decolonial workbook with Saddie Baddies (@saddie_baddies)- November 2021

7. Funding to help us purchase our upcoming merchandise series - April 2021

8. Funding for all in-person and online activations including workshops/panels/events

We are beyond grateful for any amount you are able to contribute. We send you our deepest love, sincerest gratitude, and genuine blessings to you all during these times. Our hope is that through these hardships, we foster a collective spirit the world has never seen. Don’t ever forget, art is sacred, holy, a church of spirits. A place you go to connect with the divine. Art offers us all new ways to home to ourselves, or to build a new home in a place we might have never known we needed.

Asè,

Our Founder | Doriana Diaz
