THE EXPERIENCE AND VISION
We are excited to introduce you to Coffee Cream & Dreams Café. “Every dream begins with a dreamer...” Working in corporate America over the past 30 years has taught us great lessons. When opportunities arise, they should not be ignored. While one of us has given years of her life to Verizon and the other has floated around various law firms throughout the city, we were both thrust upon an opportunity to step away from corporate America. With this newfound freedom, we found that we both had something in common. That being a dream to put our blood, sweat and tears into working for ourselves. Our love for having a hot beverage (coffee or tea) while chatting with friends made our decision to bring you Coffee Cream & Dreams Café a no brainer. For us it is the experience that one encounters while sitting in a coffee café. Not only are you having a hot beverage, delicious pastry and great conversations, you are also meeting new people. There is a strong possibility that the other customers who you talk with are there as often as you. During other visits, you are seeking some solitude, catching up on some work or taking some time to read your favorite book. All of these things are what will make Coffee Cream & Dreams not just a café but an experience. Not to mention the two bright smiles that you will be greeted with when you enter our space.
We will be located in the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia on Fairmount Avenue wedged between Center City and the Fairmount neighborhood. The neighborhood’s most iconic buildings, Divine Lorraine Hotel and The Met-Philadelphia. Faimount Avenue is also home to shops and eateries and in close proximity to the Art Museum Area. We are excited to be apart of the neighborhood.
Coffee Cream & Dreams will offer La Colombe coffee, espresso drinks, teas, pastries and small bites to our customers. We will also offer select vegan pastries options for our gluten free customers. The heart of our café will be the espresso machine. The La Marzocco Linea is just that machine. Although there are several options for an espresso machine, this machine is considered a heavy duty workhorse and reliable performer. This machine occupies many other cafes and roasteries throughout the city. We are inviting our community of friends and family (near and far) to help us raise funds for the “Heart & Soul” of the café – our espresso machine.
Stephanie Ford. The coffee lover. Opening a coffee café’ has been a dream for the many years. For me, sitting in a coffee shop is not about just having a cup of coffee, it's an experience. Who doesn’t love a hot fresh cup of coffee? It is not just "a cup of hot fresh coffee..." it is a combination of the coffee, meeting new people and of course the pastries. As an avid cyclist, and the one responsible for mapping out the routes for groups rides, a coffee shop is guaranteed to be included purposely on the route. I've been known to have coffee before my 5 am spin classes, this earned me the nick name "Starbucks" from my fellow spin buddies.
Sonja West. The tea connoisseur. It felt like a lifetime of working in a corporate environment. Long hours, great co-workers and sometimes challenging assignments. When my years of service enabled me to open the door to retirement, I quickly walked through and closed the door behind me. I was ready to give my time and energy to working for myself. Although I'm usually asking for the tea menu while visiting a coffee shop, I also enjoy coffee. Naturally a "techie" and a vegetarian, I'm looking forward to recipe sharing with customers and chatting about all things techie. Of course I will be making sure we have some vegan options in our pastry selection as well.
