CHICanny is a web & app combo platform designed to provide CHIC (stylish) interior design in realistic 3D format, and CANNY (money-wise) design execution & project management. While other design services are concerned only about “design”, CHICanny is made for “design and design execution”, from beginning (design conceptualization) to end (fully-executed design).
It is your one-stop collaborative and interactive partner for a successful interior design project. We provide not just a design product, but also an enjoyable and satisfying experience for you.
THE PROBLEMS WE ARE ADDRESSING
There are a lot of DIY interior design apps out there, even AR (Augmented Reality) software from décor retailers. The problem is not all of us are tech-savvy enough to use it, nor do we have the artistry or creativity to put together a harmonious design, as well as the skills and patience needed to source the products for the design. Sometimes, we are simply just too busy to do it ourselves.
The use of a professional interior designer or architect (real people) is still the best and most reliable option.
Interior design is both science and art. It is characterized by style, function, safety and adherence to existing codes and regulations (especially with remodeling of businesses). The use of a professional interior designer/architect (real people) is still the best and most reliable option. However, we have observed some underlying problems with leading interior design services, such as:
1. Expensive design execution
There are a few seemingly affordable online interior design services in the internet, but at the time of checkout or sourcing, you'll find out that the design itself is expensive to implement or execute, because the décor and furniture applied in their design are upper-tier expensive. This nullifies the "affordability" claim. A design that you cannot execute is basically useless.
2. Tedious disposal of décor & furniture
To give way to a new interior design, you have to free up the space. A space owner who wishes to remodel has the secondary problem of disposing of current decor and furniture. Most of the time it takes several weeks (up to months) to actually have a buyer for these items due to the vagueness of existing selling platforms, where listings are not category specific and search results are mixed with irrelevant items. The owner will have to either store these items (filling the garage or rented storage), undersell or give them away for free.
3. Purely transactional design process
With existing interior design services, the customer sets limited requirements at the onset (by clicking style preferences on screen, etc.), followed by a long wait for the initial concept designs in an email (because mobile apps are not available). After which, there is very limited interaction between the customer and the designer. Their business model is cut and dry “that’s-what-you-need, then-here’s-what-you-get”. There is no lasting relationship being built and, almost no learning curve for the customer.
Real estate statistics shows that millennials are the dominant homebuyers of 2019. They started dominating the market in 2017 when they covered 34% of the buying pool, and of which 66% are first timers. They are expected to continue dominating the market in succeeding years
The average median home in the US is around $225,000, and millennials’ average credit score is 665. Considering these factors, most millennials are being smart with their money and buying “fixer-upper” homes, which need redecoration, redesign or reconstruction.
Millennials are being smart with their money.
Statistics further show that the yearly average number of home sales (existing & new) in the last 8 years is 5.6M, and the expected total number of homes sold by the end of 2019 is 6.4M. Home sales in the last 5 years is constantly increasing by 3.9% annually.
In business statistics, it shows that 627,000 is the average number of new businesses opened yearly, excluding the businesses which require renovation.
With all these numbers and statistics, we can conclude that there is a need, and a constant & progressive market for affordable 3D interior design and fit-out.
CHICanny is designed for any space owner who requires redesigning or remodeling of space for personal or business use, like home/condo owners, office managers, restaurant owners, etc. It is also made for space owners who wants to shop for “design-worthy” (curated) décor & furniture at an affordable price, not necessarily a full interior design service.
We understand that a SMART space owner would tend to be frugal and prudent, without compromising function and creativity, because this new generation of space owners are both CHIC and CANNY.
CHICanny combines the indispensable talent of professional interior designers/architects (real people) AND the efficacy and convenience of web and app (technologies). This combination assures a fast, reliable and successful interior design project.
Here are some of its unique features:
1. Consignment Integration
Our platform adds consignment in the equation which provides the space owner with more options and flexibility to strategically accomplish the interior design project and perform above budget. Aside from budget specification at the onset of the project, the space owner can choose between a design using full-consignment (curated) decor & furniture, or all-new decor and furniture, or a combination of both new and used. The interior designer or architect will work on the design project based on the preferred direction of the space owner.
Our interior designers/architects curate all second-hand décor and furniture being sold in the platform (online and real-time) to ensure that our customers will have “design-worthy” décor and furniture for their home, office or business. Moreover, our solution makes intelligent searches/suggestions based on the style preference and persona of the space owner/buyer.
2. Targeted Buying Audience
Our platform also solves that problem of disposal of old décor and furniture, because it enables the space owner to list and sell their pre-owned items. It has a more targeted audience of buyers who are actually looking for decor & furniture for their own interior design projects, as their interior designers look for specific pieces to fit in their design. This makes selling even faster and, it gives opportunity for the customer to earn money while reducing cost. This portion of the platform is also available to users who only want to sell their preowned décor or furniture, and not necessarily use our design services.
3. Interactive Online Hub
Our solution is also an online hub where all users have the ability to connect, communicate and share the thrill and excitement of having a new interior design.
The platform conducts a daily 1-hour online Designer-OnStage event, where a certain number of users can join in at a time, get to know the subject designer (fit verification), and ask basic questions or suggestions related to interior design. That's free consultation right there!
It also has a newsfeed where activities are shown, for example, when:
- a new space owner starts a project
- a new consignment furniture is listed
- a new retailer décor is added to the library
- a new designer/architect has joined
- a project has successfully been completed, etc
This sense of “community” with other space owners makes the project more thrilling and exciting, and increases the learning curve of the customer.
CHICanny is your one-stop collaborative & interactive platform for a successful interior design project. We provide not just a realistic 3D interior design product, but also an enjoyable and satisfying experience for you.
