Detroit Dirt's mission is to create a zero waste mindset throughout communities and drive forward a low-carbon economy. Our focus is combating climate change by diverting food waste from landfills and reducing greenhouse gases. We're promoting the practice of eliminating food waste, reducing our carbon footprint and implementing the culture of carbon.
The Market size is a multibillion dollar industry, the fertilizer and waste industry generate billions of dollars. In the United States we waste over 200 billion dollars of food waste annually, if we manage a fraction of the wasted food we can save billions and also create a market for byproducts such as compost fertilizers, biofuels and energy. Food waste is estimated at 30-40 percent of the food supply according to the USDA, NPR shared that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency stated that 20 percent of landfills is food.
Our company products consist of compost, worm castings, and apparel (t-shirts). Compost is decayed organic material used as a plant fertilizer. Compost reduces food waste and it's nutrients condition land, store water and carbon. We are seeking funding to scale our model, purchase equipment, create awareness campaigns, develop curriculums and videos. Our team consist of myself, family and contractors, the Goodwill GreenWorks manages our manufacturing which consist of packaging compost and shipping our products. Our site work is completed by contractors and family.
We would like to thank everyone for their support and donations, please join the revolution.
