Buffalo Mountain Adventures helps people connect with Nature and each other by providing fully-facilitated guided outdoor trips, lessons, and workshops. We live in an area rich with natural beauty and opportunities for exploring- from hiking or climbing in the Blue Ridge Mountains, paddling local rivers, or taking a beautiful drive on the Parkway to visit some local wineries. However, we realized there weren’t enough resources for facilitation of these adventures, making these options feel out of reach or stressful. We take the guess work out of adventuring by providing highly trained guides, gear, and coordination. All you have to do is show up ready to have the time of your life! Floyd, VA is an area that attracts a lot of tourists for its eclectic art & music scene. We are the “missing piece of the puzzle”, by adding in the element of outdoor excursions, with options for folks of all ages and skill levels! We have been providing these tours since 2018 and have received nothing by 5-star reviews!

We are expanding our business to provide more offerings for our local community to join in the fun year-round! We are doing so by opening an outfitter store in our hometown of Floyd, VA. This store will be a “hub” for all things outdoorsy- we will sell gently used outdoor gear and needed provisions for hiking/camping/fishing, etc. You will be able to find information on local hiking & biking trails, and sign up for trips. We will have climbing walls and host workshops and community events. We will also be parking our food truck out front of the store and serving delicious meals with ingredients sourced from local farms. Our food truck will be conveniently located on a road that despite being well-traveled, has a 50- mile stretch with no options for food!

We are asking for supportive funding to help build out the infrastructure of the store, climbing walls, and food truck.

Our Team

Brittany is the owner of BMA and holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She has worked in the field of human services in a variety of settings, such as community mental health, hospitals, and non-profit organizations. She has a special interest in mindfulness education and has facilitated mindfulness-based groups in local jails and schools. Brittany has a profound love of spending time outdoors and has been a whitewater paddler for the past decade.

Co-Founders

Brittany and her co-founders, Aaron and Chris, all met while working at a local non-profit that provides outdoor experiences for underprivileged youth.  Both Aaron & Chris have extensive knowledge of outdoor recreation, as they have both worked as high ropes course instructors and guided countless groups down rivers, in caves and up rock walls.

We have an incredibly competent, enthusiastic, compassionate team of adventure guides, drivers, etc. This has always been a team and community effort, with everyone pulling together their specific talents and gifts to make it all come together.
