The Bradshaw House

December 2016, already residing in Wake County, working fulltime jobs Belinda and Derrick relocated her father Leon to live with them, making them instant caretakers. During the weeks ahead Belinda noticed that her father showed mild signs of depression from missing his hometown, friends, his Meherrin Nation tribal family, and most importantly his aging mother.  Derrick encouraged Belinda to look into housing options for them in the town of Ahoskie, NC.  Within weeks of researching, communicating with people, and signing paperwork they were packing up and transitioning to Hertford County. They were now owners of a historical piece of Ahoskie, NC and all with the blessings of Belinda's father LEON BRADSHAW BROWN.  Leon resided with Belinda & Derrick until he fell gravely ill, had to be placed in a nursing home and soon after Leon passed away. Leon took great comfort in watching the progress being made on the house and he loved the house. After his passing, Derrick & Belinda felt that the house still needed to serve a purpose to helping others and decided on opening up a MULTI UNIT ASSISTED LIVING HOME with SERVICES. 

Being financially drained & nearly defeated with trying to complete the restoration process of their home they decided to start a NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION in October of 2020 to ask their community, family, & friends for help. 

While in the process of starting their NONPROFIT and doing much research, Belinda & Derrick discovered that once their MULTI UNIT ASSISTED LIVING HOME was in operation, it would be one of only two in the town of Ahoskie NC.  Neighboring counties and towns are also in  need of Multi Unit Assisted Living Homes, to serve the older/ disabled population.

The Dawsons figured if they could get this first home completed and in operation, then just maybe they could invest in another to continue to provide this great service.
