How many items are in a box?
Bodhi Baby offers three box sizes based on your needs. The more items you have, the less you need (since you can mix and match to make more outfits!).
The Mini is 25% of your baby's wardrobe and has 7 items.
The Med is 50% of your baby's wardrobe and has 15 items.
The Full contains 100% of your baby's wardrobe and has 22 items.
The Mini will be available after our funding campaign is complete — but you can pre-order a New Full box or a Med Preloved box right now!
How does it work when I “fund your first order”
When you pre-order through our funding campaign, you secure your very first Bodhi Baby box. Then, when we’re ready to ship, we will send you an online link to access your membership and fill out some questions about the size and styles you want for baby.
Once we ship your order, you are able to keep your rentals for 3 months — and then when you send them back (with the packaging we’ve included for you), we will keep them as part of our collection.
We are planning to ship NEW boxes in November and PRE LOVED boxes in February (but will keep you posted with updates!).
How often do I get a new box?
Depending on your account, we'll automatically send you new items for your baby every three months. But, we know that babies grow at different rates, so just change the shipping frequency in your account if you need new items sooner or want to delay your next set of rentals.
Do I have to buy anything?
Nope! Renting with Bodhi Baby means you can rent what you need for your baby with no commitment to buy. (But you CAN buy something if you really love it or it becomes a memento.)
After our funding campaign, if there is something you decide you’d like to keep forever, you just keep it! Then, you send back the rest of your rentals, and we will deduct the cost of the item from the card on file. The cost of the items you keep is often reduced lower than normal retail (depending on how long we’ve been sharing them with our Bodhi Baby families).
However, for pre-orders made through our iFund Women funding campaign, we ask that every item is returned. Your pre-order supports our very first inventory and, right now, we need every item in order to get off the ground.
What if I want to take a break or cancel my membership?
There is no commitment with a Bodhi Baby membership, so you can pause or cancel at any time.
Do I need to wash the clothes before I send them back?
To help us maintain a happy relationship with the shipping companies, we do ask that you return the clothing in a relatively clean state.
We wash everything thoroughly before it goes back into rotation with eco-friendly laundering practices.
What happens if I lose or stain an item?
We ask you to treat our items with care as if you had borrowed them from a friend (but we know that babies are messy!). Please do not modify the items in any way (such as removing labels). If you do spill something on them, you are free to soak the item or attempt to remove the stain as long as you follow the instructions on the care label.
For this funding campaign, stain insurance is included in the cost of all items.
In the future, to avoid being charged for an item, we offer optional insurance for $5/month to cover all repairable damages, like stains or missing buttons. If any item(s) is damaged beyond repair, is not returned, or is lost/ stolen, we will charge you the cost of replacing the item(s). However, this is often not the full retail value.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is always free, both ways. We provide a prepaid shipping label and return bag with every tote so you can send back your pieces.
What if I want to buy something?
We know it’s hard to part with those favorite pieces. In the future, we’ll offer special pricing just for our members, at up to 50% off the retail price. You can find the member price for each of your rental pieces on our website or the price card in your box.
But for now, we ask that all NEW orders return all pieces so that we can build up our inventory for PRELOVED boxes in the future.
Do I get to pick the pieces that I receive?
Each of the clothing rentals in your box is hand-curated based on the style preferences you give us when you create your profile. You can choose between Unisex, Girl, or Boy boxes and answer a few questions about your style and needs. We do the rest.
Is the clothing new or used?
We offer two types of rental boxes: New or Preloved.
New: Everything in the New box has never been worn before. You can rent the items from us for three months.
Preloved: Our Preloved boxes will save you a ton of money and are better for the planet. Each Preloved Box is filled with gently used items. We inspect each item before it goes out, to make sure it’s still like new. You can rent the items from us for three months or until your baby outgrows them.
What kind of clothing can I rent?
We offer clothing for babies — 0 through 24 months. We plan to offer more sizes in the future!
All of the brands that we feature meet our strict standards for sustainable fabrics (like GOTS Organic Cotton and Bamboo), ethical manufacturing, and community care.
What is a circular economy?
Right now, the majority of our economy functions in a linear fashion. Items are made, used, and thrown away.
But, today, our planet is struggling. So many people on the planet means less resources to go around. Or, rather, less resources that we should be sending to the landfill.
A circular economy means focusing on systems that allow products to be reused, repaired, or repurposed. This way, we keep resources cycling through the system longer — and help save the planet.
What if I’m pregnant now, but don’t need the clothes in November?
This is a great question, and we would still love your support! The best option is to pre-order a preloved box or purchase a gift card.
Although our first orders are shipping in November, you’ll be able to delay or customize your ship date once you create an account with us, after the funding campaign ends.
Purchasing a gift card gives you a bit more flexibility on what size box you want (Mini, Med, or Full) and is also the perfect gift for expecting parents.
