Punto Oscuro is mystic, flora inspired eco-knitwear.
Our knitwear is a love letter to my Latin American heritage. We're cultivating space for authenticity and inclusivity in the fashion industry.
Today’s generation is balancing what it means to be Latino and American and are deeply connected to their heritage. Our choices depend on a company’s commitment to authenticity, inclusivity, and transparency, especially regarding social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and cultural relevance. And as the gatekeepers of our ancestral lands, we value environmental sustainability and social responsibility as we navigate how to reclaim our roots. Latin culture has always prescribed gender specific roles especially in clothing. We are here to change that and thoughtfully design our products to be both gender neutral and size inclusive using dual sizing because we know that bodies fluctuate.
Punto Oscuro is a growing community of misfit plant lovers, goth kids and fur baby mamas y papas. We believe that diversidad drives excellence and representation matters.
Punto Oscuro is a Latina-owned business transforming the fashion industry. We're focused on cultivating social and environmental responsibility. Our knitwear is produced in Latin America (Peru) using locally sourced, sustainably raised wool from Peruvian IAA certified alpaca yarns. Our family run factory partner is Fair Trade Certified assuring ethically made garments, improving workers lives and wages, and protecting land and waterways. Most importantly, our baby alpaca wool is luxuriously soft, naturally hypoallergenic, water repellant and super easy to care for. We're focused on producing high quality goods made with love and good practices.
Punto Oscuro began in my living room as a series of images and symbolism inspired by my Mexican and Guatemalan immigrant parents. The plant life and nature imagery are essential elements in each piece as they represent the natural world that has always been present in my life. I intentionally design each product to include mystical ancestral symbology and an element representing the natural world. We stand for celebrating heritage and creating moments that last forever.
After high school, I pursued an education in art school, but found myself always drawn to fashion. With a background in art and design and decades in the fashion industry in Los Angeles, I've worked for many well established brands and established my career as a knitwear designer. I've travelled to factories from Bologna to Taipei and created best-selling items for many fashion labels, but longed to celebrate my heritage in knitwear.
I'm a divorced mother and solopreneur, and I've been juggling a lot. I'm running my own business, funding it myself, and taking care of my family. To further my mission, I need your support to raise $15K to launch my first production run, develop the next collection and promote growth for my community.
Future collections will include collabs with other inspiring Latinx creators. We will also be introducing kids and pet sweaters for your mini-me's!
You can help take part in this campaign by:
- Making a contribution and selecting a reward. We've put together some really cool authentic stuff for you!
- Contributing any amount to help us reach our goal!
- Help us spread the word by sharing our campaign to family and friends! You can share it on social media, email, or word of mouth!
Finally, I want to say “Gracias” for your support in helping me to launch my dream, Punto Oscuro. Your contributions will directly impact my efforts to produce unique knitwear that represents our Latinx heritage and to create moments that last forever.
