Apollyon is the third fiction podcast produced by Observer Pictures.
It’s the 22nd century. The Apollyon virus has torn through the world and wiped out 75% of the population.
Now, a majority of the world is governed by the ICRS, the International Conglomerate of Research Scientists, a group of politicians and scientists working to keep the world as safe as possible. That safety means extreme restrictions on travel and trade and quarantined cities.
Dr. Theo Ramsey works in the American ICRS headquarters in Atlanta. She and her research partner, Dr. Gabriel Larson, have just discovered an effective vaccine for AVS, but the stakes to get the vaccine to the public are higher than either of them ever imagined.
The first season of Apollyon will be 10 half-hour episodes. The pilot episode is available now. (Listen to it here.) We'll produce the remaining nine if we hit our goal.
Observer Pictures is an independent film and podcast production company based in Nashville, TN founded by Faith McQuinn. Along with producing partner Amanda Lorraine, Observer has produced three short films and two serialized fiction podcasts.
Boom is a featured show in the Modern Radio Drama list on Apple Podcasts and has also appeared on Best of Lists from Bello Collective, Audio DramaRama, and Audio Dramatic. Margaritas & Donuts has been featured in articles from The New York Times, Flare Magazine, and The Good Trade.
Every short film and audio fiction series we produce has a deep focus on character because a story filled with characters you care about is a story worth experiencing. With the assistance of Courtney Holly, we put together an amazingly talented cast to bring those characters to life.
Plus Marta da Silva as the ICRS Computer, Kyle Nishimura as Lincoln, Rue Dickey as the guard, Bjorn Munson as the teacher, and Bryan Huey as the PSA Announcer.
And, of course, we couldn't make a great sounding podcast without amazing sound and music.
Sound designer Joshua Suhy, who previously designed Boom and Margaritas & Donuts is back again to make this show sound the best it can. And award-winning composer Katie Seaton is on board as the main theme composer and music supervisor.
Talented people who put in their best work deserve to be compensated. $10,000 is just enough to make it happen. (And we have plans if we exceed our goal!)
- 50% of the funds will go to paying the cast. We have seven main cast members and a slew of day players.
- 32% goes to post production to cover sound design, mixing, scoring, and transcriptions.
- 15% goes to above-the-line to cover writing, directing, and producing.
- The final 3% is for marketing which includes creating content for social media, designing merchandise, and producing this crowdfunding campaign.
First, you’ll get the opportunity to hear a well-produced, intense sci-fi drama exploring both the aftermath of a pandemic as well as the ethics behind human drug testing. Second, we’ve got some great rewards (including holographic stickers and a digital comic) as a thank you for your support!
We see this as a team effort. The cast and crew promise to put forth the best of their talents to make a quality fiction podcast. And hopefully you are willing to be part of the team by helping us reach our goal. If you're unable to help financially, we completely understand. But you can still help us by telling your friends and family and boosting this signal on all social media platforms. Also, be sure to follow Observer Pictures and Apollyon on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Thank you!
