At ALOOSE we’re guided by one simple mantra:
Make better clothes and waste less.
An ode to timeless style and quality craftsmanship, our designs are beautiful and created to last. We challenge consumers to think differently about their purchases. We ask: how long will you own the next item that you purchase? And we invite you to join the slow fashion movement and change the way we consume.
First Things First
Our mission is to create beautiful clothing with sustainability at the heart of the brand.
We designed two timeless and season-less pieces that are refreshed quarterly with new fabrics and prints. Through our designs, we aim to help consumers shift from fast fashion toward sustainable retail practices. We believe that the more options there are to support ethical businesses, the better.
At ALOOSE our designs last a lifetime. We promote radical transparency in retail to understand what we’re buying, how things are made, and to ultimately do better as conscious consumers.
We are always asking three questions:
How can we become more sustainable?
What happens when we take greed out of fashion?
What happens when we make less and care more?
The Virgil Blouse
The Virgil blouse is a comfortable, flattering, and luxurious fitted classic with hand picked vintage buttons and eco-conscious interfacing. This piece is versatile for night and day and will fit into any closet. The Virgil is easy to style and produces an effortlessly cool vibe.
The Mantua Trousers
The Mantua Trousers are an understated statement piece with a button waist allowing for two different sizes in one. Vintage influences on this piece come through with the sailor pant style fasteners and of course the hand picked vintage buttons. There’s also a small pocket on the right side, because, well… pockets.
Our process is a collaboration between a designer, pattern maker, and fit model, ensuring mindfully made designs and a perfect fit.
Fast fashion promotes overproduction, textile waste, and landfills. At ALOOSE we make limited runs – 200 sets per year – in different fabrics to reflect the season. Our opening season fabric is a collection of sumptuous silks in earthy jewel tones. We create each piece from deadstock fabrics, which is overstock (or run-off) fabric.
Because we’ve decided to dedicate our focus to two pieces instead of the typical 10-12 per collection, our process requires fewer samples and therefore, less waste.
All of our clothing is made by Fair Trade manufacturers in the U.S. using natural fibers and up-cycled materials.
Our Leading Lady
Mary DiPesa graduated from Drexel University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Product Design. There she became aware of the myriad of issues surrounding overproduction and waste within the fashion industry. She went on to pursue her passion with a clear conscious, choosing a non-profit vintage co-op over a corporate job. Thoughtful and entrepreneurial, she explored avenues to become more involved in the solution to the fast fashion epidemic. She sought out ethical manufacturers, sourced sustainable fabrics, and founded ALOOSE.
We Have Big Plans
Collaboration is the key to our future at ALOOSE. We look forward to participating in pop-up events with like-minded designers in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and beyond. We plan to partner with other artists to roll out custom prints on our designs. We’re excited to develop and adjust our patterns to include patchwork pieces from recycled denim and cotton. It is our goal to work toward less dependence on the mainstream textile industry and aim to rely 100% on post-consumer recycled textiles.
Faith in iFundWomen
We love iFundWomen because it’s aligned with our standards of transparency and community support. With the funds raised, we will grade the pattern for sizes XS to XL, create a digital version of the pattern for manufacturing, purchase materials, produce 50 sets, and market the brand.
