AbsoluteJOI -- Made for Melanin-Rich Skin

When I discovered that over 75% of products marketed to Black women are made with toxic ingredients that affect our health, I decided to make non-toxic, clean beauty for Black women my mission. The idea for AbsoluteJOI Skincare started with making high quality effective products to share with my friends and family. But as I learned about the chemicals used in personal care products, their impact on our health and the disproportionate exposure to these toxins experienced by Black women, I knew AbsoluteJOI would need to embrace and promote non-toxic living.

We launched AbsoluteJOI in 2018 as a clean beauty alternative and this has been a great start for us –

  • We’ve gone from an idea to five products
  • We sold out during Christmas 2020.
  • Our most recent product is a tinted moisturizer with mineral sunscreen, which was named "Best Moisturizer with SPF for Dark Skin" by Byrdie Beauty (visit our press page.)
  • We are in discussions with a large national retailer to place our products in their stores.

Black women spend twice as much per person on skincare and the ethnic skin care is a $1.1 Billion market in the US alone. Now in 2021, it’s time to grow and we are working to be placed in a large national retailer. In our discussions, the buyer said he wants to see a change in packaging that shows the scientific and clinical background for our brand. So we are rebranding and now AbsoluteJOI will be AbsoluteJOI by Dr. Anne. I am now raising funds to finalize our brand refresh and secure inventory with the new look and feel. We also will create new marketing materials plus packaging and our brand presentation. In addition to broader placement in a national retailer, my vision for 2021 is to raise funds for marketing and to expand the conversation about the importance of clean beauty and non-toxic living for our health. With this infusion of capital, I’ll be able to make my 2021 vision for a new AbsoluteJOI a reality.
